Good Morning. It's Wednesday 6th April, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road Contract talks with Phillips scuppered Ongoing contract talks between Leeds Utd and agent, Kevin Sharp have been put on ice after it was revealed Kalvin Phillips wants to switch agents. Sharp, a fellow ex Leeds player (and fan) has been representing the England ace for most of his career, and has a very good working relationship with the Elland Road board. Only two weeks ago, Sharp all but promised that Phillips would not be sold in the Summer, a statement which may have angered the 26yo, and caused irreparable damage to their relationship. According to Sharp :- “He (Phillips) has never asked to leave Leeds in all his time with the club, and has no intention of doing that now or in the summer. But I understand the offer that was turned down would have been a record for both buying and selling clubs. “So I would hope that Leeds would honour their promise of a new contract for him which would then end any unsettling speculation about his future this summer.” ER sources claim that Phillips feels that Sharp is more invested in a new and improved long term contract, rather than his ambition to play at the highest level. please log in to view this image Valencia not interested in making Costa move permanent Helda Costa looks certain to return to Elland Road next season following a damning report from Spanish National News outlet 'MARCA'. In the past eleven games, the Angolan International has played just 76 minutes of game time, indicating the 28yo has fallen out of favour at Valencia. This has all but scuppered Leeds chance of cushioning the 15m blow, Leeds paid for him back in 2019. Costa has featured 65 times for the Whites over the past three (nearly) years, scoring seven times. His contract runs to the Summer of 2024, until then, Leeds will have to continue to pay his 1.7m salary. please log in to view this image Slow it down a little Jesse Marsch has a new philosophy which he is trying to install into the Leeds camp; it's called 100 to 70! Whilst the players were used to charging about the pitch at 100 mph under Bielsa's reign, Marsch would like to see his squad slow down a little in certain scenario's, both physically and mentally. One of the main frustrations of this season would have to be decision-making in the final third, and converting sustained periods of pressure into better goal scoring opportunities! Believe it or not, but Leeds are in the top six for 'shots at goal' (and 10th for shots on target). According to Marsch:- “We have a term we call 100 to 70,” “It means that in certain moments, I want the players to slow down a little — not always physically but in their heads, too. Have a little bit more poise and control in how we construct the next play.” please log in to view this image Former Brazilian ace urges Raphinha to quit ER Former Brazilian Superstar Ronaldinho has urged Raphinha to quit Leeds at the end of the season, and join Barcelona. Ronaldinho, a former Barca player himself, is also very close with Deco (Raph's agent). The former Ballon d'or winner was quoted as saying:- “I would very much like him to come, he has a lot of quality,” “He would fit in very well with Spanish football due to his playing characteristics.” please log in to view this image
Good morning all… Firstly Marsch doesn’t need to explain things like 100-70 why give the opposition the knowledge that you’ll be looking to slow down at certain times, good coaches might find a way to exploit this. I wish Marsch didn’t feel the constant need to explain his methods and trying to be liked, just get on with it. Costa - I’d have been amazed if anyone would have wanted him for £8m, someone had Ortas pants down again on the Costa fee. Phillips - Changing his agent and the press are simply putting 2+2 together. I keep reading reports including Sky TV who’s anchor said “he’s spoken to someone who knows the player” that Phillips is on £25k a year. I don’t know how far from the truth that is, none of us do but if it’s true and I was Phillips and I’d seen or heard what the likes of Rodrigo was getting or any other big wage earners I’d be really annoyed with both my agent and whoever at Leeds had decided on the wage and hadn’t already felt I was worth more. I wouldn’t want an agent who put the club over my own personal needs, changing the agent is a non story, just the press trying to build a frenzy, either we pay the worth or someone else will and they’ll come in with a big transfer fee offer. In 2020 Declan Rice changed his agent, he employed his Chelsea supporting father, the press were all over that but he still signed a new West Ham contract.
Looks like Jesse is shooting from the hip again, gotta agree with Ristac..... shut up and get on with it. Is that the first signs that Philips is on his way? i did say so over 6 months ago in a message to Doc!!!!! Costa, not surprised in that at all, thats another headache supplied by Orta. As for the Brazilian baby, get sh1t loads for him and show him the door.
What he said What he said Most of what he said too costa was signed by Bielsa, not Orta. Yes Orta went and di the deal but this was Bielsa’s first signing and at the same time decided to bring Klich back. Bielsa has left us short in midfield short in squad numbers, not Orta. Love Bielsa and always will, but his decisions combined with an extraordinary number of injuries has killed us ghis season
Morning all. Looking forward to having Costa back as he's always given his all for the club and was an important part of our promotion season. With Raphinha likely to be on his way out we'll actually need another winger, especially one with his experience who can slot straight in and bolster the squad. Dan James Jack Harrison Helder Costa Crysencio Summerville. Four good wingers and that means all the Raphinha money plus the summer transfer budget can go on other areas of the team.
April 1st has long gone mate, I thought you said they were 4 good wingers for a moment… Summerville hot prospect that’s as much as I’ve seen out the four at the moment
Just for fun then can anyone tell me who's been better than those four over our 100+ year history ? To make it more interesting though we'll exclude our title winning sides. Wingers/wide men only please.
I disagree about Phillips. Two weeks after Kevin Sharp said Kalvin wants to be at Leeds next Season, he sacks him!!!!
Miller would have to be absolutely sensational to satisfy the hyper critical cognoscenti on here. Makes me wonder if anyone bothers to watch the wingers from other clubs and how many goals/assists they actually achieve.
In other news... Absolutely massive fixture tonight in the PL. Burnley v Everton KO 7-30pm Let's say one team has to win so no draw, what result would be best for Leeds ? Honestly don't know myself as it would depend on how Burnley do at Norwich on Sunday as well.
