Got us to get beat again. Fair play it is away to Stoke which is a toughie.

I was also unaware we payed £4mill for Demba Ba. Alky, Junkie muppet!!!

Monday Night Football: Stoke v Newcastle
    7pm, Mon, Sky Sports HD1
Newcastle haven't got many superstars in their side, if any, but they are playing as a team and working hard for each other.

Alan Pardew is a very good manager too. He should never have been sacked by Southampton, he did well at West Ham and now he is getting results with Newcastle.

I thought Demba Ba was a great buy at £4million. He's quick, strong and he scores goals - what more do you want from a striker? He wasn't a big name, which is why certain teams didn't go for him, but at the moment you'd rather have him in your team than Andy Carroll.

My only concern is that they have to play at 100 per cent every week to get a result. If they lose a couple of matches then things could quickly go the other way and after this game against Stoke they play Everton, Man City, Man United and Chelsea in a row. That's a really tough run of fixtures and this team that has done so well could easily lose four on the spin before you know it.

So this trip to Stoke is a massive game. You have to remember that Tony Pulis's side have played Man United, Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham at home in the league and haven't lost to any of them - so that's the challenge that Newcastle face.

Stoke have to play an away game in the Premier League on the Sunday after all eight of their Europa League group games. That's bordering on disgraceful and I don't think the top teams could cope with a fixture list like that. As a result, they've had some bad results against Swansea, Sunderland and Norwich. That's not fair.

That means they need to win their home games and I'd never back against them at the Britannia Stadium. I like Newcastle a lot, but even if Stoke were playing Man United on Monday night I wouldn't pick an away win.

    PAUL PREDICTS: 2-1

To be fair I think that's a fairly honest preview from Merse. Would disagree with us having to play 100% every week in order to win (see the wigan game for instance!) but I'd agree with pretty much everything else he says.

Also that last paragraph is almost complimentary!

Yeah I agree with this. As much as Merson annoys me, his preview here isn't particularly bad despite that he's listed us for another loss.

And that he clearly knows nothing. The actual score is fair though!

We have no superstars? they might not be the elite that messi is but it wasn't so long ago before his injury that Ben Arfa was considered very hot property and the next big thing in france and theres still plenty time for his to get back there.

To be fair to Merson, could you really argue with anything he says in that?

Ba didn't cost £4 million and Paul Merson doesn't like Newcastle?

I am not querying his prediction of the scoreline, its his lack of general football knowledge that pisses me off. My missus could tell me that Demba Ba cost nowt, does that mean she would qualify as a sky football "expert"??

Also the stupid comment that we have to play 100% to win every week, I reckon we played at about 75% against Wigan last time out and that last time I looked we got 3pts and the win!!

This, also what does he mean we have ''no superstars'' ? Cabaye, Ben Arfa, Tiote, Krul, Saylor and Colo I would definitely consider them as ''superstars''. Not everyone has to be on Messi's level to be a ''superstar'' haha.
