Not me. If by some miracle we got up (we won't of course) he would be entitled to give it a go in the Premier League. It was feeling better, but feels like we're going backwards now imo.
It was moved from January to June in 2017 but 2021 was postponed due to Covid and fitted in this January. Not sure whether 2023 will be back to June...
As I recall we didnt have a fit LWB so he put Willock there where he played very well. Saw no problem with that at all. Also did we have fit recognised striker when we played without one? Don't think we did, not even Armstrong.
Stop bringing in old crocks then ! It's down to the manager , scouting team and the board to make shrewder purchases and loan deals. What do we do we bring in Hendrick ffs, while someone at Forest spotted getting Spense on loan for the season might be a good move. Some people are doing their jobs better than others !
I thought a striker was available, but not sure to be fair. After he was moved to left back Willock was then played as a centre forward. After that, his confidence appeared shot. Barbet could have played left back. I'm glad you're happy with the way things are going Ossie.
Forest ? Yes how many players have they brought in the each of the last several seasons, train fulls I think. So after many seasons of this they are finally showing promise. We don't have that kinda Budget, hadn't you noticed? Well I am happy looking over his whole time with us, he has a better record than any other Manager we've had since Warnock 10/11 years ago. Not going well the last 2 months but there have been reasons for this mostly beyond his control. He has improved our position each season on a limited Budget, having to sell our best players and rebuild, and with a small limited squad outside the first 13 or 14. It's extremely short sighted to even consider ditching him now after a 2 month bad run where we have lost our best to injuries or bad form. I read today we've used less players than all but 1 Championship Club, I guess because we don't have quality in depth, so no great surprise that especially the older ones are tiring.
. FIFA are more like to play the Euros at the same time they just played the Afcon, and play them annually.
Your argument loses traction when you cite Forest as the example. We cannot compete with the likes of Forest when it comes to players we can afford. They even scuppered a near done deal for the Bournemouth old crock centre half. The biggest disappointment this season has surely been the performances of three of the four loanees of last season. Getting the loanees to put pen to paper was key to this season according to virtually every QPR fan but Johannsen, Austin and de Wijs have all been major letdowns.
We'll agree to differ. In my opinion our problems started a long time before we lost Willock, but if you think most of what's gone wrong isn't Warburton's fault you're entitled to that opinion.
I think someone posted on here before the game that Fulham had spent 10M on loan fees which was more than double the amount of money we had left in our transfer budget in a period where we sold our prize asset. We simply cannot compete with virtually every other team in the top ten with perhaps Luton Town being the exception (who coincidentally we got 6 points off). The likes of Forest, Sheffield United, Boro, Blackburn, Stoke etc. can all outspend us at will. From memory I think we are 17th in the Championship when it comes to revenue so every place we finish above there could be seen as an achievement. All that said, losing to the likes of Barnsley and Peterborough et al is simply unacceptable. My impression on Saturday was that we actually looked scared in possession. Confidence shot to pieces.
The point is that, despite all this, which is absolutely true and Warburton did brilliantly under the circumstances, once we had the huge opportunity to get promoted, Warburton blew it imo.
Cannot argue with that and you are right that he did brilliantly to get us in that challenging position in the first place.
Is that the lad Wilson from Liverpool? If so they haven't paid a penny for him yet as Liverpool agreed to defer payment for a year.......... some wheeling dealing going on........ What they are paying Mitrovic a week would pay for half our starting 11.......... One other thing..... Stoke are the next to fall foul of FFP, sold their ground to Bet 365 group for £60m having lost £150m in last 2 seasons......... whether the club actually see any of that money is a moot point, probably no more than a paper transaction to massage the P&L........
Are Stoke in trouble over the ground sale? I thought I read that they got that dodgy deal done in time to beat the revised ruling.
You're right they did it with a few days to spare before EFL closed that loophole......... Still think they're in trouble under FFP or whatever it's called these days as losses way over the max £39m allowed over 3 years........
Spense is on loan at Forest, they didn't buy him ffs. They are paying him less than we are paying Hendrick ! Some people on here need to wake up, Forest did most of their buys pre season and when Hughton was in charge, since Cooper took over when they were rock bottom after 7 or 8 games they have gone mental, winning more points than anyone else in the division bar Fulham. I think they brought in 2 or 3 in January and outbid us for Cook. Its not down to how much they've spent under Cooper why they are playing so well it's down to the fact their manager is quality who knows how to get the best out of the players he has and is tactically astute. Their best 2 players are Johnson who is one of their own and didn't cost a penny and Spense who is a loanee. I'm not asking us to spend millions but have we used the loan market as well as we could've ? Of course we haven't.
