Apart from the money, I’m glad at the moment. I’ll embrace the Prem when we might be a bit more prepared for it
Don't agree with any of that Beth. ' Getting into very dangerous country here 999s?' ... What does that mean? What's wrong with having a squad that is available as often as possible?
Sorry 999s but that is discrimination...regardless of your reasons. It is discrimination. You don't want us to sign any African players? Just no. Let's not take it any further
I’d be happy if we signed African or South American players, provided they contracted to play for us and not their country whilst on our books. I’d want the same for Scotland too so that they couldn’t take our Australian players and crock them for us.
That doesn't make any sense. Players want to play for their country and any player who was prepared to agree and then abide by those terms would probably not be any good anyway - either has beens or ones who wold not have the potential or ambition. Not sure how enforceable that would be as we had games postponed when we were in League 1 (whatever it was called then) because of international call ups - the world famous ****tu and Doudou. the key surely is not overload your squad with them and have depth in quality.
It remains to be seen whether we finish further forward than last year. In my opinion Warburton has taken us as far as he can, possibly backwards by the end of this season.
I find that a strange report in many ways. Very complimentary about Fulham. I get the impression that, having had a wonderful opportunity to get promoted and all the financial help just one season in the Premier League would bring has been happily tossed away and anyone who criticises Warburton for what's happening is a fool who wants a knee-jerk reaction.
It's just a factor to be considered alongside others. You would certainly think twice about signing players whose religion forbade them to play on certain days of the week or ones with intermittent health problems for example. And in the Championship where there are so many games to cram in and so many international breaks it's a factor that could make or break a season. Not discrimination at all.
I have found some of his decisions odd Col, I agree Especially in defence Dropping of Barbet ...the insistence on playing Sanderson Not so much Hendrick, as I thought he was going to be interchangeable with Johansen who is IMHO a fading force. The wing back situation I can see as problematic to a manager, with injury prone players, and old players being in the mix. But the back three situation I agree has taken the wheels off the bus..and that is downtown Warburton
Playing without a striker and putting Willock at wing back weren't exactly inspired decisions either Beth. When asked why he'd played Willock there, Warburton replied that it was the way to get all his best players on the pitch. That just about sums up his lack of tactical awareness imo. The way some players have been treated will inevitably have damaged the fantastic team spirit we saw earlier in the season and it's all down to Warburton.
I do agree with you. Col. Those decisions were really odd. The striker situation has not held good all season. Dykes injury, Charlie with a couple of major personal problems...and age catching up on him. Gray who shone like sun and fades far too much
Really don't need to spell it out, do I? I know you, that you dont mean thevway it reads...but just consider how it looks. You spell out you don't want to sign AFCON players or those from the Caribbean part of the qualification process.. You single out a specific group of players...Afro/ Caribbean...that you would not sign. It is not a good thing. ( which is silly any how...no Dieng, Chair, Gray or Kakay...wouldn't have signed Eze as he can play for Nigeria... AND definitely wouldnt sign ADEL TAARABT). I would not want to support a team that shows that level of discrimination.
Can’t agree with that Beth, it’s not discriminating against players, it’s common sense, you look at players you want to bring that won’t piss off to that stupid tournament halfway through season & totally disrupted the team
I have no problem with Qpr buying African players that may go to the Afcon mid-season......just don't overload the squad with too many of them.
I'm positive Nines wasn't suggesting anything racist Beth. I disagreed with him purely because I wouldn't want to exclude anyone from playing for us.
Look at the number of African players that make an impact in both the Championship and PL and it would make no sense to exclude them just because of AFCON and their World Cup qualifiers. A balanced squad should have the depth to cope. Anyway, we did well while they were away, it's gone tits-up since their return...
Agree Sooper & Beth. I don’t think 9’s meant it in a discriminatory way, more as a tactical choice. Though I think we’d be worse off for not getting the best players we can afford - wherever they come from. AFCON is a distraction, but we coped well - as we should at our level. Even if we did the miraculous and got up, MW would soon have people queuing up for his head in the EPL if our squad was hanging around the relegation (rather than thanking him for getting us up and gaining the millions in parachute payments for the following years. He has no chance (as do we in making the play-offs now - all feels better than a few seasons ago though)
