As none of those acts were worldies, tis exactly the kind of "quietly going about your business" performances that go mostly unnoticed in the excitement of the attacking play.
Spurs are just a better team but yeah nufc gave up and Howe looked like a man trying to eat candy floss in wind tunnel with those changes.
Yeah. I've always been stuck in the past. Fancy recognising it as a flag that hasn't been used for over 100 years! But then again there are very few new flags under the sun.
Sectarian socio/religious arguments nothing to do with Spurs, on a Spurs match article. But enough about the Toon vs Mackems ...
We are improving and look a decent team at times, still work in progress though, but today we were very good once Kane got involved more, albeit against a poor Newcastle whose game plan fell apart second half. Romero, Kane and Son were top class, and Kulusevski is proving a very astute signing. Negatives were probably Royal who (goal aside) was a weak link, and Hugo who should probably have done better with their goal. I also hope we keep Bergwjin, I think there is a player in there and with some more confidence could turn into a top player for us.
Same. I already think he’s one of the league’s top CBs and the way Carragher’s been gushing over him lately I think he does too! Very easy to see why he won Serie A defender of the year last season.
You just know it will be more of the same, business done late, missing out on first choice targets, struggling to shift deadwood, left with a short squad etc etc. Hope I am wrong though, obviously.
Superb performance by Spurs. Showed great character and fight after falling behind. It's a clear tactic by Conte for 2 of our CB's to be either side of Hugo to receive a very short goalkick to entice the opposition to high press thus leaving fewer numbers further up the pitch to cope with our attack. Newcastle harassed our defenders well in this aspect in the early stages and we struggled to play our way out. After a while they tired, gaps appeared and when you've got such intelligent players as Bentancur, Kulu, Kane and Son we were looking like we were going to score in virtually every attack. Full credit to Emerson and Doherty today who really pushed on. Doherty is looking like that player who did so well for Wolves and is becoming a key player for us now. Kane especially 2nd half was glorious with his playmaking. Dier organised and competed manfully as he always does and Davies yet again did well. Hojberg battled hard and kept it simple. Bentancur composed and always looking for a forward pass. kulu yet again with assists, his first touch is superb. Lastly, Romero - what a player we have here. An absolute Rolls Royce of a player. It looks too easy for him at times. Aggressive, throwing his body into blocks, bullying Woods at times who is a unit . He is the most composed defender I've seen at Spurs and we've had King and Vertonghen ! Top four is critical because if we do, I'm convinced Conte and Kane stay and if we can get four or five top players in we can we really give the top three a fight next season.
Love seeing Romero further forward than Kane sometimes when the play has broken up , the same as Bentancur but I'd rather see him playing the fancy stuff than on the edge of out 18yrd box
Its really not us v ISIS, we are in the turd division... unfortunately its not even about Al Qaeda v Spurs. Al Qaeda's rivals are or soon will be City and PSG. The joke is Chelsea's owner gets kicked out but the owner of the skunks gets a pass.
Newcastle's owners sell us oil and buy our weapons (which they then use to bomb Yemenis), so of course they get a pass The fact The FA are in denial about how obvious it is that they're state-owned is genuinely insulting
Brilliant second half and what an unlikely set of names on the score sheet! I was half expecting Vincent Janssen to come on and score, just for the bantz. MOTM for me was Matt Doherty. Never thought I would ever say that. But there you have it. Played on his weaker side, didn't stop running, scored an excellent goal and provided a delightful assist. His lung-buster to arrive with Son in anticipation of Kulu's ball for our 3rd was indicative of his new-found determination.
I don't think I've seen Nedum Onuoha do much punditry before. Came across pretty well. I'm impressed.
