I couldn't tell you them all, I wasn't given the whole list, but some of them would have been welcome additions, like Zajc, Viera (Miguel not Patrick) and Atiba Hutchinson. I was particularly looking forward to the last one because even at 39 he's still an absolute baller. He's out of contract in the Summer, well worth a go on a one year deal.
No surprise that there's a couple of midfielders in there. It's pretty clear where our problems lie so with the addition of a decent full back, an experienced CB, a complete midfield overhaul and a decent striker we should do alright
Of the out of contract players I would only be in discussions with Honeyman and Ingram. The rest can go
I don’t think anybody is saying Shota out are they, ? think most accept needs his own squad and pre season . But people are allowed to have their doubhts based on what we’ve seen so far . I disliked McCann immensely and was glad when he went and didn’t particularly care who came in as was just delighted we had new regime . I just hoped to see a bit more of this attacking reputation , to be entertained a bit , I didn’t expect us to shoot up the league all of a sudden. So while judgement will be reserved until next season , I don’t see an issue with people having concerns about it
I just haven’t seen any improvement in our performances- especially in our midfield / attack, where is the coaching? What the **** do they do all week? I wasn’t expecting miracles but as an ex striker I was expecting an uplift in our attack from Shota
If McCann was getting something akin to the maximum out of a pretty limited squad, there isn’t much else Arveladze can do to improve them. That’s a possible reason.
At the end of the day, this squad was largely formed in a transfer embargo placed on the club by the Allams, whilst teams like Blackpool kicked on and either signed top League 1 players of last season, Wintle, Dale as well as adding near enough a whole new back line. Blackpool also had a lot of existing good championship proven quality players already there, Gary Madine is exactly the type of striker we are missing no matter how much of a **** he is. Didn’t know that their gaffer is also one of just 16 managers globally to have the Elite UEFA Coaching Badge.
so players can’t be improved with coaching???? Why do we bother to employ coaches then??? utter ****e
Aye, well that's good. I just thought that if he isn't guaranteed to start he might get second thoughts but he doesn't strike me as that type of guy. Or, he could get a better offer elsewhere.
Neither do I, but I do find it odd that some are comparing McCann, who had a full season and a half in the Championship, to Shota who has had 3 months, international break included.
I can’t fathom why Shota isn’t playing to the system he favours. If he is indeed assessing & planning for next season then surely he should be assessing the current players in the system he favours rather than a different one, If he intends to retain some of the current squad then they would be better prepared, for next season, having already played in the system he favours & intends to adopt. It appears to me that he’s winging it until the end of the season. After that, who knows?
Maybe the previous coach had already improved them as much as they could be improved. That was my utterly ****e point.
I guess that the reason we are playing with only one up front is that the manager has assessed that none of his other attacking options are good enough. If they were, they'd be in the team. It'll be interesting to see how he sets up in the next game without Eaves.
