But Marcelo had folder upon folder of scouting info on him (admittedly with the pages likely stuck together from late night research) - he clearly had the attributes to be a world beater? Where has it all gone wrong? seriously, maybe he’ll do better if played in his natural position… …if he can learn to cross
Its only relevant if you act on the information, and have a plan. Bielsa's only plan was to see how quickly he could bing Tyler Roberts on as a substitute.
Easy. If you're a crackshot, name them all 'scum'. If you couldn't hit a coo's arse wi' a banjo, write Leeds United on them all & you have a ready excuse for being a crapshot.
When Dan James is used ahead of Joffy as a striker we deserve all we get. Yes he runs his nags off but he fires too many blanks. Start Joffy and take him off if it doesnt work, but better option than James and if you have to play James start him instead of Harrison ffs
Interesting to hear the telly viewers' opinions on here. But how can you accurately tell how the team is doing by following the ball? That's all you get on the telly. Take James, for instance. As you may remember, I was vehemently against us signing him for the very reasons he's being criticised today, plus of course, not signing for us originally. However, I must leap to his defence. He caused absolute chaos today, particularly with his off ball work. It was a fabulous, gritty performance, plus, apart from not scoring, he did all I could ask for. This comes from his greatest critic, take note. I see Klich is still getting it in the neck too. Yet today was up there with his best of the season, working well with Forshaw, who surprisingly is still getting pelters for some reason too. Man of the match was Cooper, without a doubt. Even Llorente looked reliable in small patches with Coops directing him. Anyone catch him sprawled on the ground with their Jimmy Hill lookalike, Coops lying flat, yet headed the ball away from the other guy's foot? Now that's determination. Sadly missed. If we have a weak link, I would still point at Llorente. What's happened to him? Dreadful in so many different ways. Hate to think how the game would have gone without Coops.
I know it's not something i look for anymore. It's like we never do it so just forget to do it. Shakleton is the answer........ On harrisons shoulders..... Or we could try lifting like in rugger.
don’t think you necessarily get a better view at the game but certainly a different one - it’s definitely easier at the game to pick out formations, individuals’ work rate, how they cover and stick to team plans… or not… tracking back etc. I haven’t seen the game today, but in general agree on llorrente. I’ve never been a fan of Koch… defensively… but can’t help feeling he’s worth another try.
The biggest screw up today wasn't individual failures, it was a team who couldn't pass, a team getting caught too easily in possession. Ayling, Llorente, Forshaw, Dallas, Cooper, Rodrigo, Harrison, Meslier the man who Bielsa said was great distribution has been garbage this season with the ball at his feet, Klich…. How many times today did a Leeds player receive the ball and instead of moving it on was swamped and put us in a panic defending when the whole Marsch idea was to break out fast in transition…
No, you get a fuller view, for all the reasons you mention - plus the off-ball stuff you just don't get on tv, as the tv directors job is primarily to get cameras following the ball. I remember Alioski getting torn apart on here in one of his early games. I watched a replay on the telly, & the comments were accurate. However, I'd been at the game & Alioski had the RB & RMF opposition running into each other, falling down - the whole shebang - and yet all this was off the ball, unseen, creating space aplenty for his colleagues. (who got the credit due to his groundwork. But no-one watching the telly version would see any of this & stupidly thought he wasn't particularly involved in the game, yet the reality was that he caused untold damage in the flesh. Agree with you re. the CBs. Thought Llorente might be the real deal - but that was last season. Won't be sad if we sell him. I too am a bit wary of Koch, but must concede that he's not had a fair run to assess him. One for JM. I will say that I'd prefer if he didn't play DM, as he's never excelled there, simply filled in as well as can be expected.
Cooper and Llorente looked sharp today, and played well together, good thing too, as our midfield is so weak. Us mere mortals who watch the games on the box are pretty clued up too you know!!!! The camera doesn't just pan in on the player with the ball you know...
… actually I think your first point was agreeing with me too . You get the detail on tv and the big picture at the game.
