Anyone who says that doesn't work in or have any working understanding of publicity. It's a bizarre sentiment. Especially in the age of cancel culture.
Don't think it was staged, personally. They come across too badly from it. Embarrassing from Smith, imo. Does he not know the hosts of these awards always roast the guests? If he felt Rock overstepped the mark (arguably he did), he could have said something either at the time or when he accepted his award... Like an adult. Scrapping(ish) at his age embarrassing. Comes across as a petulant child. He clearly has some serious mental issues at the moment though so have to give him some leeway, I guess.
I have said a few times on here, this is more down to the scrutiny and ridicule his marriage has had than what Chris Rock said about hair. She clearly gave him a look aswell because he was laughing at the joke one second and slapping him the next.
He said "keep my wife's name out your ****ing mouth." What did you say Roy? "Keep my wife's name out your ****ing mouth." please log in to view this image
Having no previous experience of Chris Rock, despite being aware of his existence, I thought I'd do a search for 'Chris Rock best jokes' ... .... this is from page one, I hate to think what the last page is like There are only three things women need in life: food, water, and compliments. Don't argue! You cannot win, you cannot beat a woman in a argument. It's impossible you will not win. Cause men, we are handicapped when it comes to arguing cause we have a need to make sense Everyone has favorite criminals. Mine are pimps. We can all rob a bank; we can all sell drugs. Being a pimp is a whole other thing. Gay people got a right to be as miserable as everybody else. Gun control? We need bullet control! I think every bullet should cost 5,000 dollars. Because if a bullet cost five thousand dollar, we wouldn't have any innocent bystanders.
One dickhead slapped another dickhead. Free publicity and more money for both. I remember Will Smith on Top Gear and Jeremy wasn't having him like.
Doesn't seem clear to me how it benefits Smith, brands associated with him won't like it and I don't see it getting him any roles he wouldn't have before. The opposite if anything.
