So if he is that good it begs the question what the hull was Bielsa playing at. He preffered the stunted shakleton to a proper right back. Hinestly perhsps now we will see some u23s flourish instead of being treated like kids.
he did play him and he was diabolical - had he performed in those games he might have kept the shirt. As it turns out, seems like a run in the championship was perfect for him. If he's found his feet in man's football - which seems to be the case - then great we have a player who can come back into contention... or be flogged for a few quid.
Agree with @milkyboy . Dramah looked like a fish up a tree in our first team. Ironically his last appearance as a sub before he left was the first time I saw a bit of potential in the lad. He started to carry the ball forward and didn't look terrified every time someone came near him. Then he wanted to leave.... If Bielsa was still here I doubt there would be any way back for the lad but I'm sure Marsch will be looking at him and the decision lies with him and whether Cody wants to come back. I'm not sure what assurances he will get about displacing Ayling as on current form I think Ayling easily has another year or two in him. I think it might be a bit reckless getting shot of Ayling after this year as his leadership has definitely been a big positive during the present situation and I'm a big believer in having multiple leaders in a team.
I agree, Milky. Turns out the Cardiff move seems to have been the making of him & I have to doff my cap to him for making that decision in the face of such adverse criticism inside & outside of the club. I believe I may have been one of his critics, but I take it back. Would I take him back, though? Dunno, haven't watched Cardiff, or the situations he faced. He's flourishing at that level, but we all know it's different in the PL. I'll back JM on this one, as frankly, I have no idea what went on in the background, & I doubt if many will. It's a win-win situation anyway - either we have an improved player returning, or we have an improved player who we can sell for more that we could have if he'd remained in the u23s.
So far it looks like it's paying off. With Shackleton still struggling with muscle niggles we are only one injury to Ayling away from not having a right back though. Firpo and Hjelde are out and Dallas is already filling in at LB. If Ayling gets injured and we start losing again, it soon turns in to a disastrous decision. The club have taken too many gambles over the last 12 months. Chickens will come home to roost if they continue.
Hasn't Struijk played well for us at LB before? Cooper too, if you can remember that far back (now considering if I'm mis-remembering). Personally, I'd be happy with anyone at the club playing LB instead of Firpo at this time. Feel sorry for the lad, tbh. I'm hoping he finds his feet before next season & stuns us all. But I'm not holding my breath on this one. At least he's better than De Cock. So glad to be waving goodbye to that wage thief.
If the people who think Drameh is never going to make it, think back to the first time he was brought on which was against Arsenal in the cup….. he had Martinelli in his pocket and Martinelli was taken off. Everyone on here said wow what a player hes going to be. Martinelli got his own back in the league and he struggled in a couple of games too. Took some crap on social media from so called fans…… if I was him and behind Shackelton in the pecking order II would have wanted out too. Love Bielsa but the way he managed this kid was a joke. lots on here were raving about Leif Davies as being the best left back in the club, but he wasnt breaking through so gone out on loan to Bournemouth, but has hardly played. Drameh went to Cardiff who were bottom 3 when he went, the has played every minute of every game and Cardiff are super safe now. Not long ago most people on here were saying the Championship is the toughest league in the world. Well we only have one player whos a success in that league and plenty out on loan who cannot get regular games in L2. The facts are that he is now an England U21 star and worth a hell of a lot of money. So whatever happens we are quids in. Shackelton may bet us £3m, Drameh will get us £20m. Every England U21 player has a starting value of £15m and Madueki is valued at £35m, how much was Bellingham valued at? £80m this season since his step up to full International? As WJ says lets leave it for JM to decide, but either way we win. I’ve watched Drameh every game especially last season. This season has seen a fked up 23s due to none of the better players actually kicking a ball
Great incentive to qualify for Scotland. Can't believe how easy the group is. Well, the US worries me a little, & Iran is a bit of an unknown quantity, I guess.
I remember 1978 WC well. Typical Scotland but some cracking memories, especially Gemmill's goal against the Dutch - the whole game in fact.
Just think about the security involved for Iran V England, Iran V USA and no security needed for Iran Scotland thanks to wee nippy who supports Iran over Eng/USA
Remember watching it at the time. The sweaties were getting all excited then Johnny rep bangs one in from 25 yards
Of course! Haven't booked yet. Logistics from Dublin to Armenia are the stumbling block - plus a mate that spends his time in 3 different countries & can never predict where he'll be at any time. You going to the match yourself? Scotland are doing really well atm. We've had our best run since 1927, or something like that. 6 wins on the trot, then friendly draws against Poland & Austria (which we threw away leads, sadly). We don't expect it to last .....
I’ll be there alright. Three tickets sorted for daughter and grandson. It’ll be his first time at the aviva. We’ll be in city earlyish so might catch up with you for a pint
