Anyone know anything about the work that's happening on the ground floor at Princes Quay. I think the unit opposite Nando's overlooking the water is going to be the Brewdog but there's also something happening in the central atrium bit (the boarded up area under the escalator in the picture below). The boards covering it have all been removed and there are signs of construction work taking place.

Prinny Quay's going to be really empty soon, Next and River Island are both closing at the end of this month.

I went to the Metrocentre in Gateshead the other week, shocked how many voids there were. Probably getting on for 50%, and no House of Fraser anymore.

I walked through the downstairs last weekend and it was really busy. The amusements place was rammed and there were little heaps of young people sat on the floor/leaning against pillars/trying to be cool all over the place.

Didn't check the shops above, but presumably empty as not really aimed at young people.

It’s really gone downhill, but they still have a lot of good retailers in there and there’s currently twelve units under offer, including two of the big ones.

Really helpful and you can try the clothes on and get the right size. Instead of pissing about sending stuff back to get the right size

Beautiful Bridlington strangely named the 'worst' seaside town in Yorkshire
Consumers at Which? Did not like the popular seaside town and ranked it on everything from its scenery to its value for money

South Beach, Bridlington (Image: Chris Attridge/PA Wire)
Bridlington has been named as the worst seaside town in Yorkshire, according to consumer Which?

The East Yorkshire town finished last based on a number of visitor reviews, ranking Bridlington on everything from its scenery to value for money. Bridlingtonreceived a poor 61 per cent in its overall score, compared to the 85 percent awarded to the highest scorer - Bamburgh in Northumberland.

The beach-ranking data has come from more than 4,000 UK visitors, who have shared their thoughts on the many UK locations with Which? The consumer testing company has then compiled the reviews in a table, showing the very best and the very worst that the British coast has to offer, Yorkshire Live reports.

And, of all the seaside towns in Yorkshire, Bridlington came last. The resort scored poorly for offering peace and quiet, and it also scored poorly for offering value for money; with both categories being awarded just two stars.

It also scored disastrously for attractions, with just one star awarded for this category. This undoubtedly brought the overall score down a lot, as even the four-star overall rating for the beach itself was not enough to pull it up the rankings.

We have broken down the categories below, so that you can see how Bridlington scored in the battle of the beaches.

    Beach
Unsurprisingly, one of the first things that visitors were asked to review was the beach (or beaches, in this case). And Bridlington scored highly for this category - with a whopping four stars. A pretty glowing review for a beach!

The huge expanse of golden sand welcomes thousands of visitors each year, with people flocking to the seaside town for a sunny staycation when the warm weather makes an appearance. There is plenty of room for families to enjoy themselves, even during the busy peak season.

Reviewers were a big fan of the beach itself but, sadly, this was not enough to bring Bridlington up from its lowly position in the table.

    Attractions
Bridlington got the lowest possible score for its attractions on offer, with reviewers giving it just one star overall for this category. Though the beach has a spacious promenade to the rear, visitors are clearly wishing that there was more there to enjoy.

Many seaside towns, such as Whitby, have long offered mini fairs and other events, with rides for the kids and things for families to do. Bridlington is a little more understated, catering to those that enjoy a quiet stroll along the promenade.

    Scenery
Bridlington got three stars for the scenery on offer, so not a great score but not a bad one either. This is unusual, because it is in an area that is known for being quite beautiful, with the Yorkshire Wolds right on its doorstep.

Wander along the beach-top path and you will be met with a breathtaking display of cliff edges meeting the blue sea, with lush greenery atop the dramatic cliffs themselves.

    Peace and Quiet
Bridlington did not score very well on this front, either. The overall score for peace and quiet in Bridlington was just two stars, which means that visitors were hoping for a little more of a relaxing experience.

    Value for Money
Visitors were also not impressed with how much they had to spend on their trip to Bridlington, with the resort scoring poorly for value for money. For this category, it scored just two stars.

Bridlington is a popular resort according to TripAdvisor reviews, and one thing that is mentioned is the affordable food and drink on offer near the beaches.

But the consumers at Which? Were not impressed and had been left wanting a little bit more bang for their buck from Bridlington.

Written like there's dozens of seaside towns in Yorkshire!!!
As many will know, either side of Brid is really nice (out toward Sewerby and beyond) and the opposite end out toward Wilsthorpe and Fraisthorpe). Unfortunately the centre remains pretty much a **** hole best avoided; even many locals would agree. I had the misfortune of being there yesterday and left thinking what the hell is becoming of the human race. But I do really like the outskirts where the beaches and walks are great.

Even so, it takes some effort to come below Hornsea. Withernsea is probably on a par.
