Sure we have as many problems as people in the UK - just a different set. Any of you lot having to replace your house roof as termites have eaten through the beams? Ramadan though is definitely more fun here - when 85% of the population are fasting there is a lot less temptation around. The hours are shorter, unless it happens to fall in November - February, as we are on the equator and my food is always ready and waiting. Time for the thread methinks.
id planned the thread for tomorrow like. I’m guessing day 1 all over the world will be Saturday or sunday? and I reckon Piskie has to replace his roof for **** like that
Yeah I've been avoiding too but I had to today as I meeded a bit to tide me over before the weekend. Put £15 in and it didn't even turn the petrol light off Dreading filling the **** up on Saturday morning. Just paid £1.75 for a bottle of lucozade sport too. Gonna be cheaper to buy a bag of gear every day instead of food soon at this rate
My petrol light will be coming on soon, it's not that I can't afford it, like you I just begrudge paying it. Plus if petrol keeps going up the way it is, tanks are going to end up getting done soon, so no way am I leaving a full tank for someone to thieve.
I've decided I'm not gonna pay any electric if the rise is too big. I'll just build it up til they cut me off and then move and make sure I have different supplier and then rinse & repeat. **** 'em.
Local Elections in May, so I reckon everyone will vote Labour, that will force the Tories to do something.
Don't think leccy suppliers are allowed to cut you off anymore are they ? They'll just hand your debt to a debt collection agency which would probs end up with a CCJ if you don't pay it. I think they get written off after 6 years, so depending on how much you rack up, it might be worth it in the long term anyway
Fair play to Starmer for banging on about that windfall tax. Even if they didn't/couldn't do it in power, it should still force the Tories to do something My leccy has just gone up £500 per year and it looks like it's going up again in the Autumn. It's just not sustainable, especially for those on a low income
My logic says, Starmer keep pushing the windfall tax, get everyone to vote Labour in May, that will force the Tories to climb down.
From what I've read (albeit very briefly) they only can't do it for pensioners during winter but others they can if given notice. No idea if it's outdated or not. My supplier went into liquidation last Autumn so I'm dreading the size of bill I'm gonna be sent next month from whoever has taken it over. I think I'm prepared to take the CCJ's and they can chase me for years tbh. Either that or just become incredibly criminal.
My landlords getting a phone call tomorrow saying he needs to install central heating or I'm reducing my rent paid too. On one atm
The other option is to rack up a huge bill, and when the debt collection agencies come demanding it, tell them you are at your financial limit and you can only pay it off at say £5 per month. That way, you are making every attempt to pay the bill and there's **** all else they can do legally .
