Vyner was fine last season, maybe he is not motivated by the constant criticism from his manager? Yes, Vyner has been culpable for a lot of goals conceded this season, but so have the rest of them, yet he's been singled out the most. The whole defensive unit is noticeably poorer this season, with several players playing way below the level they have shown in the past couple of seasons; hence, we have conceded more goals after 39 games than after 46 in each of the last 2 seasons! People talk on here of making better player signings, but for me, we need better coaches/coaching, as a number of players have gone way backwards in their development and performance in the last year.

What about the ones that have excelled the ones on the boat-the others are not on the boat.

    None of them are defenders......

Scott and Semenyo in particular have excelled, and to a slightly lesser extent Pring, but that is in large part due to how the club have managed their progress over the past 2-4 years through loaning them out for game time and experience. This isn't a sudden miraculous fix by NP, he is reaping the benefits of previous management regimes. Most of the rest of the youngsters have been hit and miss and in and out of the team. They are undoubtedly talented, but cannot sustain a long season at this level.

Weimann for sure, when he isn't being played at RWB.... Not sure Martin has excelled to be honest?

He has; however, he is an experienced and established CF at this level; whereas, Semenyo is young and raw. Therefore, the expectations have to be different. For me, 9 goals and 4 assists from Martin is about par for him, certainly not excelling (for me that would be 15+ goals at this stage of the season), or at least not in my opinion.

cant help thinking NP attitude at times is donkey like .. especially over Vyner.. and a few others that have a bad game then no chance to redeem themselves. NP has no excuse that an opportunity for ZV hasnt arisen, it has a couple of times but he has played square pegs in round holes and we have suffered... [ albeit Weimann got the winner at Blackburn because he chose to be up field! ] ...

I agree, like most on here, I was really excited when we announced Pearson as manager. I hoped he would bring his vast knowledge and experience to benefit City. However, I think he has been quite poor, very set in his ways, maybe even a touch archaic in his thoughts and processes. I have been very disappointed with his management of the team, his selections and tactics, his coaching, but not ready to call for his head, yet! I will give him until the start of Oct to turn it around, as every manager needs a fair amount of time to get things how they want them, on and off the pitch. Changing managers every 5 mins like, Cardiff, Leeds and Watford is not helpful to long term strategy.

Whilst I don't always have the same vision as you I do agree on your timings as long as he is allowed back up in the transfer window.

I was reading something the other week on Watford changing their manager regularly. Their response for this is it works for them being a bouncing club getting the Prem money and parachute money until they’ve earn enough to stay there. One thing you can’t deny is their fans always have at least one good season every two years. Wish we could have them now.
Like most I’m giving Nige until October, we’ve got this weird thinking that Tanner will be our saviour when he returns, yet started this season in league 2.
His signings have not set the world alight at this point. Hopefully he has a good summer but I suspect we will have to lose at least 2 of Semenyo, HNM and Scott if not all three to get through this and spend the money very wisely.

Don't have any problems with that-Nige has put a cracking side together before and can do it again on a budget .
Give the man the transfer windows and let’s see how we go.

So, we were the 10th highest spenders - and 3 of those above us were the 3 relegated Premiership clubs. Perhaps now people are finally seeing the reality that NP has had money available to him this past year, more than 14 other clubs, yet we languish in 18th place! Can we finally put to bed the "he's had no money" excuse? He's had way more than Coventry, Luton, QPR etc. who are all faring much better than us this season.

not sure it totally reflects how much we spent, it is basically agents fee's??? If solely agents fee's then the players NP brought in/got rid of is almost £1.4m? [ ? includes CF ?]

If this happens then we haven't learnt our lesson from when LJ was in charge, forsaking our best players and replacing with??? What or who will we get to make our team better?...Unless the aim is just survival and not to progress as PROMISED after the sacking of LJ..

Good points, if it happens again then we know it was at the behest of SL all along, and most likely out of the control of MA and LJ.

Not disputing it mate, just that IMO we’ve got this one chance to try and dig us out. We’ve totally ****ed up and put us back years with the Holden era (not blaming him, why would he turn that offer down) we had a chance to progress with with lot better choices. MA ****ed us up big time.
