There is at least one poster on here that would agree with them . They had no intention of holding on to him unless he was willing to do it on the cheap and he had no intention of staying unless we paid him more than anyone else was offering. Never felt like he was happy.
I honestly think promotion is the only way we will keep Stewart here next season. Neil has Premiership and Championship clubs watching him aswell.
Think your right Tees, and I'm hoping we see them both in the Championship next season, playing for us of course.
Would be gutted to see him leave. I think he genuinely enjoys it here so would stay if we were able to offer playing in a higher league and a pay increase to go with it. I think this season is the first one where there are a few players I would be gutted to see go but also a few players who are attracting the attention of higher placed teams. Stewart, Neil, Pritchard for starters.
Sorry to break it to you all but there is zero chance we are going up this season. I'm not even sure we'll make the play offs Good night and please, don't have nightmares
Don't think there is a doubt, if we don't go up we have another rebuilding job to do...We will lose a few decent players and get rid of those who simply don't cut it at this level..
There is no chance we keep Neil if we don't go up. Been earmarked to leave for ages. Whilst he loves his club his progress is being halted. Too much interest in him for a move not to happen. Have to think that Ross will be away too. Part and parcel of league one unfortunately. I hate this league but we have made a pig's ear out of this season. Only ourselves to blame. Have to hope we get on a winning run, play offs with momentum and then anything can happen.
Time for reflection mate, and lets be honest with ourselves here. The chances of keeping Stewart here for another season in League 1 is very highly unlikely. He's recieved his first cap this week and at the age of 25 he's ready to test himself a level above League 1. He'd be daft to turn down the Championship, its not as though he's a young kid. Neil's alot younger but with a host of Championship clubs aswell as the likes of Leeds and West Ham chasing him, keeping him here for another season in Div 3 is highly unlikely aswell. Sad but true.
Suppose it's down to the ambition of the club. Both players are under contract (I know that doesn't mean as much as it used to) so the club doesn't have to sell. I'd imagine a couple of 7 figure bids would be enough to make KLD's eyes light up sadly
