CHELSEA admit they will have to lower their expectations when it comes to transfer targets this summer. Instead of West Ham star Declan Rice, they can now only afford his brother Muller. Really good at corners, though, apparently.
Is this based on the post from number 7 above? As that seems to be written as a set up for a joke… I couldn’t find anything suggesting they will need to sell players or lower their transfer targets. Now if one of the American bids wins then it is pretty likely that their transfer budgets will go down and will need to be funded by sales. But they already kind of were. For example they sold three very good central defenders last year to fund Lukaku and now risk losing two on free contracts. Not exactly the best strategy and only one you would use if you needed to at least partially fund your outlay with sales
Or just that some people realise sometimes things are said in jest on here, and not always so seriously
Well, Ralph is in favour and TBF, I can see why. It gives him more flexibility and if we do improve the quality of our bench in the summer then great!
In general I'm against as I agree it overly favours the big clubs. BUT as we have seen in our Cup run 5 subs might actually be good news for our style. As long as everyone knows ahead of the summer window, so can plan for it. I expect most games Saints would sub all of the front 4 plus one more (full back? or a swap to back 3/5). So it becomes imperative to have 'first team' level strikers and wingers on the bench.
The fact it ruins the flow of matches is by far the biggest issue for me. Although that it favours the big clubs that's a secondary issue imo.
You see I don't think it does. You can still only make your subs at 3 different points in the game so I don't there's much of an argument there.
