We used to have a Polish food store at our local indoor market, some wonderful meats, council closed it down , he was an old guy, so never reopened anywhere else.
My father in law remarried a Polish lady some years ago and they live in a place called Wisla near the Czech border. When we go out there they take us up to this place in the mountains, (on a sled pulled by horses in the winter) big log cabin with a massive fire pit in the middle where they cook up all sorts of sausages, hunks of beef etc. All washed down with loads of beer and Vodka. It's fkin amazing. Love going into Polish food shops and seeing all of the air dried meats hanging up and in the display cabinets. I could live on that stuff alone. (I mean, you probably couldn't, but you know what I mean)
The dogs in the 2 attacks will likely be put down ... but the real problems lie with owners ... there does seem to be a correlation between the kind of person that needs such breeds and the word twat ...
Me too love it..the day you describe sounds perfect too. Love the rustic foods of these Eastern European countries, stews, roasted Boar and the likes.
Yeah love it all too. There's a classic Polish dish which is a Wild boar knuckle/hock, boiled, and then oven roasted with a honey glaze. Had that with Saurkraut and dumplings. Lovely crispy golden ham, with some zingy and crunchy Saurkraut and nice stodgy dumplings washed down with a cold beer Also had it braised and slow cooked in a thick onion gravy. It's considered a Peasant dish, but like most countries these dishes are often the best to be found. I can't think what they call it, but there are lots of variations on it.
Doesn't apply so much to their rustic fish dishes unfortunately, mainly of a coarse variety. Pike, Perch and Carp ain't that tasty!
Don't remember eating any of those tbh, had a mate years ago who loved pike, never got why, it was just bones.
Poland has a coastline, but most of the country is hundreds of miles from the sea. My in laws live near the Czech border, so it's basically a landlocked area and hence freshwater fish are on the menu. I've had fish in Poland, I couldn't tell you what it was. Tasty enough, but good old battered Cod takes some beating (there's no Fosse pun in that batter/beating btw)
Same work today. But that involves making Ice cream so it's all good. Got a holiday up in Exmoor over Easter, looking forward to that
I wish. Yeah it's them, will get them out of the house and in pubs more often it's all a bit more chilled that way.
I've only got a small house, two bedrooms. Me and the missus in one and the little un in the other, so thankfully there's never any danger of people wanting to stay here.
