I haven't seen much dislike, partly because it's impossible to hate West London team when they find Chelsea as obnoxious and tiresome as the rest of us, with the added insult of having to share geographical space with them.

If there's any disgruntledness coming from Spurs fans, it's mainly directed at Adel Taarabt, who was an uppity gobshite that didn't live up to his own billing when he played for us, and thus far this season he's been vindicating our assessment of him on a regular basis. I also know a Gooner who had a soft spot for QPR - until you signed Joey Barton (in other words, sell him in January then get three points off Chelsea, and he'll be able to enjoy the result a lot more)

Can't we have someone slag him off relentlessly, so that we don't get him any more?

In reality, he has to ref one ours eventually, rather this one where we have a chance of rectifying any of his mares.

I always feel on edge when he's charge of one against another top team. :emoticon-0101-sadsm

I don't want to depress you more but Lawro has predicted us to win on Sunday:

    Tottenham v QPR (1600 BST)

QPR's win over Chelsea last week was massive for them - they need to keep picking up points - and they have bounced back pretty well since being hammered 6-0 by Fulham at the start of October, as you would expect with the way their manager Neil Warnock is.

But Tottenham are on a good run, playing great football and they will be far too strong for Rangers in midfield.

Spurs are my favourites for fourth place. They have competition for places and reinforcements, which is exactly what you want. They always look capable of scoring goals too.

    Prediction: 3-0
    ------------

Ermm, he predicted Liverpool to finish 4th at the start of the season. You need some wing mirrors for all that backpedaling mr. Lawrenson?

Perhaps he's realised how toxic his win predictions are, SF?

We want to beat you on Sunday fella, but to be fair, especially amongst the older supporters, I think there is a bit of a soft spot for your mob. We have lots of players in common and you are a proper club. Been over to LR myself a few times and there's a great feeling about the place. Hope it's a good game on Sunday. <ok>

For the more mature Spurs fan... What's your opinion of Terry Venables now some time has passed? Definitely my top ever QPR manager. And who do you fancy to replace 'Arry when he foolishly takes up the England job?

Terry did both good and bad, he helped us football-wise, but his problems with Sugar didn't help the club.

I don't know who was to blame in the spat, but it was costly.

PS I posted up a thread about the team news, before reading the updates to this thread.

Doubtless the mods will move/delete my thread, if they think it's superfluous.

The key thing is that the news looks like it's good news, we'll know more by Sunday and then Thursday I assume.

Venables was a very good manager, but he was even dodgier than Redknapp, if that's possible!

    Redknapp's replacement?
    Moyes or Ancelotti, probably.

At one time Venables was going to buy a large stake in QPR, but then Barcelona took him. I think he may have built a brilliant team had this happened, but don't like to think too much about the business side....

Ancelotti, despite the Chelsea connection, would be a very good call - actually knows what it's like to win the EPL and Serie A/Champions League with Milan. And a thoroughly decent man by all accounts. I'm not sure Moyes would know what to do with some cash to spend - managing on a shoestring might be his strength.

I'd agree about Ancelotti, but Moyes' ability to manage limited finances might be a very important factor, if any plans for a new stadium go ahead.
I'd still expect us to be able to spend a little more than Everton though, in all honesty.
Their finances seem to be run appallingly.

One of the problems with Everton is despite being a 'traditional big club' they don't have modern marketing appeal, and I would guess their domestic and global fanbase is much smaller than ours. I think they could do more in terms of merchandising, etc, but I just don't think they appeal to the corporates and sponsors in the way we do, and of course even less when compared to the big hitters like Arsenal, Utd and Chelsea in those fields.
