I don't see what effect this will have, other than hurt the individual clubs! The PL won't care, and the FL will just respond with "it wasn't our fault, we were forced into it". Watford said no, so it's not as if they can change their mind anyway If FL club's supporters really want a hard-hitting statement, they should all cancel their Sky Sports subscriptions. Even then, I suspect it won't have a huge effect! These protests just seem to be biting off thier nose to spite thier face! I guess just the long term hope is that the youngsters realise they are better off where they are and say no when the big clubs come calling... Which is why we in such a good position last year, and seemingly undoing all that good work this! It will just lead to smaller clubs not bothering with an Academy and forever taking bigger clubs 'cast-offs' and journeymen players!
Bear with me here on the maths. To hurt Sky by £5 million a year and thus bring some pressure on the premier league. Assume average monthly subscription of £40/mth and approx 70 clubs in championship, divs 1&2, then if 149 sky customers per club changed to virgin or freeview then sky would lose about £5 mill/year. Hurting Sky would have more effect than boycotting 5 mins of football.
I agree with the intention, but it's stupidly targetted, and for that reason I'll be taking no part in it. A far better approach would be to call on fans to absolutely pack the Yellow Order section, and get everyone to turn their backs on the game for five minutes mid-way through the half whilst singing non-stop.
A reduction of £5m for the sky corporation ,would not even be loose change! They wouldnt even blink! Nice idea but again limited in effect!
But then that's only if 149 per club cancel their subscriptions. What if 1000 did the same? I let you do the maths - I've been doing it all day and my head is sore.
Only if you subscribe to the sports channels, surely? Freesat dishes can access TV from all over Europe.
Can only get canal TV on Sateillite and thats ****e as well! remember nothing is free in Norway apart from the air you breathe.............at the moment!
Thought there may have been a Noggie version of this http://www.ross.co.uk/satellite-tv/satellite-kits/sd-satellite-kit - claims to pick up channels from all over the world.
If only football fans could be persuaded to boycott Sky, but when push comes to shove, they wouldn't do it..
Here is confirmation of us signing Nosworthy. http://www.watfordfc.com/page/NewsDetail/0,,10400~2497069,00.html
That might work BB apart from the fact that sateillite tv in Norway is illegal unless you use the state sponsored one ie canal! When we moved here we brought our sky stuff with us and have had the upgraded cards ratified by my Bro in law then sent back here! Shipping the Ross one here it might be a problem but it is an avenue worth pursuing .Thanks for the info!
i was talking about football fans, they're the ones who would be boycotting, not your average man or woman in the street...
Yeah but whilst I`m paying the bills , I aint brave enough to cancel sky !!! divorce no 3 is not an option!
This article pretty well sums things up! http://bhappy.wordpress.com/2011/10/29/watford-3-peterborough-united-2-29102011/
