Wales v Austria Competition - World Cup Play Off Semi-Final Venue - Cardiff City Stadium Date - 24 March 2022 Kick Off - 19:45 Wales will resume their efforts to qualify for the 2022 World Cup on Thursday evening with their semi-final playoff tie in Cardiff against Austria. The match winner will qualify for a showdown with either Scotland or Ukraine, but that match will be played at a later date due to Russia's invasion of the latter. Wales’ skipper and talisman, Gareth Bale - who is now 32 years old - has played just 77 minutes of competitive football since November, but this Wales squad will back themselves to set up a final with Scotland or Ukraine regardless of the performance of the Real Madrid player. Wales possible starting lineup: Hennessey; Mepham, Rodon, Davies; Roberts, Ampadu, Allen, N.Williams; Ramsey; James, Bale Austria possible starting lineup: Bachmann; Trimmel, Dragovic, Hinteregger, Alaba; Laimer, Grillitsch; Schaub, Sabitzer, Baumgartner; Arnautovic I’m hoping that Wales will successfully maintain their quest to qualify for a first World Cup Finals appearance since 1958 with a 2-1 win
I'm so excited for this match I can't contain myself. A full house for the boys to thrive off and no injuries to worry about. COME ON WALES !!!
It's obviously a massive game but with Russia kicked out and Ukraine unable to play until June (or beyond?) things have gone a bit flat for me.
I know what you mean, however my worry is that Ukraine will now become everyones second favourite team, and as such the world will want them to beat the Scots and us.
Let’s hope to achieve a similar result tonight: That win got us into the last 8, and a 2-leg match against Yugoslavia
Excitement almost too much for me to take, and then Gabbidon comes on Sky to kill it all. **** he's boring.
Sad to learn that Brian Fear (ex President FAW) has passed away. My late father knew him very well - they were both Secretary of their respective Welsh League teams. Brian went on to serve on the FAW, becoming President and my father served on the West Wales FA, becoming its President for a couple of years.
Well that was eventful! Thoroughly deserved the win. They should have been ahead right at the start but were second best for the rest of the game. Thought Dan James wasn't as sharp as usual and we should have kiled the game off before their lucky deflection. Thought that was a penalty from the free kick too. And that first goal was perfection, Bale couldn't have hit it better!
Gareth Bale Harry Kane MBE Remind me - just what has Harry Kane done & won to deserve his MBE? What does Gareth Bale have to do - win a 5th Champions League?
