http://www.planet-f1.com/driver/3213/7256828/-Hulkenberg-to-replace-Sutil-at-Force-India- Even though him and his manager refuse to comment on it, the Hulk is set to make a return to GP racing next year with a one year contract for next year, with a one-year option for 2013, replacing Adrian Sutil. Surprised this hasn't had many reports on it.
good spot. I thought this may happen. Sutil has been at the team for a long time and hasnt really progressed.
No harm in giving the lad a change. Sutil has done okay in teh years he has been in the posrt but is clearly not an exceptional talent, so why not give Hulk a go?
I think there is some truth in this, as Sutil now appears to be a bit worried: http://www.planet-f1.com/driver/18227/7264770/Sutil-seeks-Mallya-meeting
A quite like Sutil, I think he's done a decent job, but I can see why they would want to do this. Sutil is never going to be a world champ, so it makes sense to move him on.

I said it when he got kicked out and I'll say it again: Hulkenberg's debut season was disappointing, fluke pole at Brazil aside. He got less than half Barichello's points total and Barichello's been appalling since he left Brawn. Nevertheless, I guess we'll see what he can do if this comes off, he was certainly talented in GP2. On another note, rather strange that Force India will be running a German and a Mercedes-backed driver!
I went to read this thinking you had finally recognised me as the font of all knowledge - only to be disappointed.
They are... it's still odd though. Have they even given Chandhok/Karthikeyan a chance to test for them at any point?
Sorry but you are talking **** judging Hulk on one season against a seasoned pro who at times was a match for schumacher is bollocks the Hulk is an up and coming talent Sutil has had his chance and done nothing he is not even a has been he's a never been and a never will be, it is time for him to roll over and let somebody else have a chance, there are not enough seats in F1 for a team to keep flogging a dead horse.
A bit strong surely Mephisto? I agree that Sutil has been somewhat inconsistent. I also believe he is slightly weak on the feedback side of things, but I do not see it as clear cut that Hulkenberg is necessarily a lot better. I hope for Hulkenberg's sake that he proves me wrong because I always like to see success, especially from new talent; but based on performances so far, I do not see him setting the world alight any more than Sutil!
No. Mallya basically said he wouldn't hire and indian driver just because they were indian. They'd have to be good enough.
What else am I meant to judge him on exactly? Barichello is past it and was also a newbie to the car last season, yet he still managed to regularly score points. Sutil has transferred from being the rookie in the team alongside Fisi to being the team leader, scoring 2/3rds of the team's points last season and finishing 11th in the championship in the 7th fastest car. Certainly he doesn't deserve to be booted out in my opinion. Hulkenberg undoubtedly has talent, but I think replacing Sutil is a bit silly.
Sutil is he foundation stone of Force India and regularly scores points for the team, someone said once "You need a young and old driver in the team to balance the environment". This is true in so many ways.
