If I ruled the world there would be no problem by the way in my book that is daylight robbery and it’s my money like every other uk tax payer
The same happened here, some companies took the furlough money and reported increased profits during the pandemic and then paid themselves bigger bonuses. The furlough scheme was put in place so quickly that all the loop holes weren't closed, unfortunately.
In that respect I should imagine all government schemes have loopholes that haven't been closed..... probably so the "friends" of the loophole makers can take advantage!
That would imply cunning and guile, however from my observation of our politicians I would suspect stupidity and being naive are the more likely causes. Either way having a high degree or moral integrity would have been the answer for the corporate recipients of unnecessary tax payer support.
Deregulation of workers rights, or as it was put, "reducing red tape" was part of the Brexit argument. The workers rights sections were removed from the Withdrawal Agreement Bill but parity with EU law was retained until Dec 2020. The promised follow up 'Workers Rights Bill' keeps being kicked down the road - don't hold your breath on that. Ministers will huff and puff about this until its no longer newsworthy and Joe Public clamours to go to France.
Dan Andrews takes some beating I'll give you that The **** could do with a severe beating come to think of it
I don't know why you get wound up by Dan. He's the equivalent of the head of one of your local councils, OK a few more powers but he isn't like one of your MP's
