Max has had almost 3 seasons and he's on about 10 goals and 10 assists that's a poor return Max is a very good good dribbler, but he's not any good at any other area of the sport. I can like a player without being in denial about areas they're lacking. Right now he's been playing terribly and he's better than that
You can’t compare as what has already been said Ginola and Robert were luxury players in a quality side. That said ASM is utter **** in comparison. HBA was far better as well.
He has 12 goals and 13 assists, therefore he clearly does have end product, especially as he had to do everything himself for most of those goals. Robert benefitted massively from hardworking players like Speed, Shearer, Lee, Bellamy, Dabizas, Hughes etc around him, he wouldn't have done Jack **** in the current team. Robert was more a finisher/set piece taker, but wasnt a team player or grafter, which ASM clearly is.
He's got 11 prem goals and 10 assists Robert scored freekicks that's him vs a keeper and he just ticks more boxes. Max is a good dribbler, but what else is max better at? Nothing I don't know where this idea max is a grafter you've got is coming from?
That just brought it to my attention that Roberts total stats are 32 goals 54 assist in 181 games.. Thats good numbers for a winger
Is this debate still going on and on? You do realise that ASM retired from football 15 years ago and now owns a restaurant in France. I don't think he'll be doing much to defend our champions league title.
He does work hard for the team, last season it seemed he did the whole teams work in some games. It really depends what boxes your trying to tick doesn't it? Robert was a luxury player who was good at set pieces and had a brilliant left foot. He was not a team player, was not particularly quick, couldn't tackle, didn't have strength on the ball and frequently went missing in matches. His attitude also completely stunk. He would very much struggle in this team and wouldn't make an impact. We're really comparing apples and oranges with Robert and ASM, they're totally different. Likewise ASM can't be compared to Ginola, but Ginola vs Robert is a meaningful comparison.
Robert - 32 goals in 181 games, 0.17 goals per game ASM - 12 goals in 84 games, 0.14 goals per game. Practically identical tbh.
Robert was fast mate? Both are left wingers / striker as both were at times played up front. I would argue both were poor defensively, but one actually produced on a regular basis in comparison to the other. Max really is a luxuy player because he's just fun to watch with little to no end Pruduct I will agree that Robert played in a better team.
Nonono - assists is a totally meaningless stat when comparing Robert and ASM. Robert took corners and free kicks, so was the one frequently putting crosses into the box and would obviously get more assists. All ASMs assists come from runs and passes, which Robert rarely did. If you want to compare modern assists for Robert, you need to do it vs someone like Shelvey or Ritchie who takes the free kicks and corners.
Yes but one was a regular set piece taker and the other isn't! Obviously if you're sending all the crosses into the box you're going to get the most assists. The only way to compare like for like assists between the 2 players would be to compare Robert's non set piece assists with ASMs.
So like I said earlier Robert was a more well rounded player because he had free kicks, corners and crosses to his game? The only thing max was better at was dribbling and showboating
That's your opinion about Maxi, as I said I think he works hard, can lift the team, is fearless and takes on players and sets up chances. Comparing Maxi to a player like Guitierrez would be a more meaningful comparison. Robert is a completely different type of winger, and both players strengths are in completely different areas.
