Indeed, I was really meaning generally across the game, but I still think Acun will make them even cheaper.
I get the feeling that passes are going to be ridiculously cheap next season - I reckon Acun would do these £2 deals every game this season if he could.
I would say it depends on the sponsors we attract.. he has to get money from somewhere. And no I don't just mean backers to spend money on transfers. FFP says we need to generate revenue.
High prices don't generate revenue if no one is paying them though. Must be hardly anyone who pays for a £27 matchday ticket, so functionally those tickets are surely going to be making us less than we would make by selling loads of tickets at a cheap rate. When we have the £2 bring a friend deals, our two memberships have brought two friends every time, and we've had others wanting to come but not for £27. There needs to be a more accessible price for adults on a one-off basis, but I'm sure Acun already knows that and will have it in mind for next season.
As Chazz pointed out, our memberships are already quite cheap. Yes he'll probably make them even cheaper, but he can't make them ridiculously cheap.
Memberships are good value but no one is just going to leap straight into a membership without trying a few games first. It's a big commitment. That's the stumbling block. I've got a couple of friends who I've been trying to get to come more often. They enjoy it, and for £2 they'll happily come, but not for £27, and not for a minimum 1-year commitment to £30/month. It's the £27 bit that really needs to come down in order to get more fans through the door.
They are cheap compared to other clubs, but are they cheap compared to what people in the area can afford? That's the real question. Hull is a poor city (OK flanked by wealthier East Yorkshire suburbs). Especially at the moment, can people justify £30 a month? I suspect Acun will be aware of this and I think they will bring the prices down/
As I said, yes of course he'll bring it down, but expecting it to be a fiver or something tiny is not going to be met.
The likes of Bradford City charge under £200 a season for an adult pass, and they average over 15,000 per game. I suspect initially we may go down a similar route to this.
It would be interesting to make adult charge say £17 which is roughly what the actual cost per game is without commitment and see if the numbers attending rise or hold - it seems cheap to me .
Do you? I thought with the membership you could cancel at any time and just pay an additional month. That was the whole point of the shift wasn't it? "Memberships offer fans more flexibility too, as they can be cancelled at any time after the initial 12 months, with two months' written notice, and families can add multiple members onto one Membership plan." https://www.wearehullcity.co.uk/tickets/memberships/ So you cant cancel during the first 12 months, but after that you can cancel at any time. So yeah it's a reasonable commitment for a year at 15 quid a match for adults or however it works out.
Didn’t Motherwell do free season passes for low-income supporters? I know some types wouldn’t like that though.
I'm not sure what you're referring to by practically, but someone on twitter recently complained that his elderly dad found he was banned from buying tickets when he came back after the takeover because he'd cancelled his direct debit before the minimum term of his membership years earlier. In any case, the point really was that a membership is a commitment. Even if there is a way to get around the 12-month minimum term in practice, 99% of people won't try that. They'll just not take it out in the first place if they're not ready to commit.
Also, who is taking out a membership now? Unless disaster happens our season is all but over and we are rubbish at home. There’ll be some people who will be waiting til next season.
I bought a 6 match saver and will consider season ticket/membership at the end of the season. (Am awaiting a new knee, so will see how that goes first. As long as I'm mobile, I'll be there!)
Yep I suspect many potential new pass holders will be waiting for the announcement of the new rates for next season. Also, will the membership scheme in its current format remain for those that prefer to pay monthly, will season passes come back in and be available for a one-off payment as they used to be, will the 6-match saver option still remain? There's no reason why all options can't be accommodated. Acun and his staff seem to be gradually going down the list and ticking off the boxes of what their customers want, so it will be interesting to see what options become available.
