Do you not think 6 years in an Iranian prison wouldn't make you slightly bitter when 5 foreign secretaries failed to get you released despite promises? Even for you this is a ****ing stupid thread.
It's only been going on about 6 years The UK didn't pay a debt we owed to Iran so they decided to jail a couple of our citizens until we coughed up.
As I understand it basically Iran are cnuts and would not let her go. The problem was ages ago they paid us hundreds of £millions for some tanks, they never got them. We hung onto the money. We also got aligned with the Yank hostages, all out or none out. The yanks owe Iran $billions. Bonko put his foot in it a couple of years ago when he was foreign secretary, saying she might have been a spy... that put the kibosh on that imminent release. Years spent in an unpleasant prison. The FO telling her husband not to rock the boat.... We have now cut loose from the yanks and coughed up the money we owed them. She had been released, it should have happened years ago... that is all she has said.
I think I'd want more than four or five days off after six years in an Iranian jail. Five foreign secretaries will have been half the problem. Back to square one every time. Plus the difficulties with giving Iran money with the US so interested in it. Unfortunately it's not as easy as 'just pay up' with a country under sanctions.
Its not what she said, its more what she didnt say. did she thank Liz Truss for helping get her release NO, she only complained about all the other foreign secretaries. and that they should have got her out 6 years ago.

Especially when it was a Labour government who withheld the money in the 70s doubt the present gov knew about the money but dont let facts that spoil your good conspiracy
