    Anyway, I just checked.

The Labour and Conservative parties were both committed to approving the invasion, but a quarter of Labour MPs voted against the invasion. The Liberal Democrats, who had one in twelve of the MPs in parliament, also opposed the invasion.

So the answer is no, they wouldn’t have done anything differently.

Doesn't matter. Labour had a war criminal as a leader. That's all I need to know.

They did. Blair’s decision to go to war in Iraq was wrong. Anyway, already answered my own question. The Tories backed him and also voted for the invasion.

All of them who voted for that are a stain on this country mate.

Do we know if the EU pay him a pension?

A right wing bloc paying a mass murderers pension, now that would be funny.

I loved this quote from one of the EU's member states, and current Hungarian Prime Minister: Mr Orban has long presented himself as the defender of Hungary and Europe against Muslim migrants, once warning of the threat of "a Europe with a mixed population and no sense of identity".

I’m patriotic but not a nationalist. Couldn’t actually give a **** if we had become a “super” state with the rest of Europe. Not one bit when I come to think of it.

Yeah they have to take responsibility. Not denying that.

Anyway, got the answer to my question. The Tories also voted for the invasion, so they would have done exactly the same if they were in power at the time.

    Semantics innit.

The practicalities of the UK’s relationship with the rest of Europe was much more straight forward when we were part of the EU

Britain had a good spot in the EU, special conditions that new members can't have, etc. If Britain ever went back it would lose its special status.

As for EU becoming more of a super state, Britain would probably feel a bit like Scotland does being part of UK... Politically not quite in line with the majority. Obviously Britain is not quite in step with the rest of the continent on many issues.

I think an EU superstate would be better for everyone involved but you would lose some individuality from it and there would always be naysayers, like there is in Scotland about the UK.

So why do we deny Putin his superstate back, ok he has to take it by force and it is not freedom of choice, but Russian democracy is completely different to ours, it don't automatically make our system better. Afterall one of the greatest trading nations in the world is China, with said human rights abuses, yet it don't stop us trading with them. We've constantly encrouched on Eastern Territories, now we are getting pushed back, because of our own ideology. It seems to me, anything that is a buddy with America is an ok choice, despite them being at the front end of most disastrous wars in the world - Blair being the earlier example, I've already quoted the thoughts of the Hungarian Prime Minister, all part of our so called bloc. Oh and not to forget our own alliance bombs of peace on Yugolavia, and Afghanistan just seems a distant thought now, with the current invasion of the Ukraine, what a fooking mess our superstate has created.

You had it right, right at the start.

If Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia voted to join Russia it would make me cringe, but it would full be in their right and Russia's right.

Belarus is an interesting one. Looks like Putin is already humping their President's leg as a sign of dominance and Belarus is letting him. Belarus isn't a democracy so... I don't know if Belarus population want to be part of Russia or not... If they do. I have no problem with them being part of Russia.

Ukraine, obviously has no desire to be ruled by Russia though.

But that's your ideology, it does not make it surpreme to China or Russia, or even North Korea come to that, you live in America, the biggest fooked up superstate in the world, one where with the attack on the Capitol, the people wanted to rip up their democracy, and put it on the bonfire.

    • This.

The EU ‘superstate’ isn’t a superstate it’s an union of individual sovereign states who apply to join for mutual benefit

whereas Putins superstate is a place where your sovereign state is taken over by force by Russia to expand the Russian empire, for the sole interest of Russia.

The great American Empire that supports the EU Empire...supporting Israel, destroying Iraq, causing untold deaths in Afghanistan, Yugoslavia, it even once dropped an Atomic bomb on Japan. Fooking fantastic, but look over there at Russia, or China blah, blah, blah. At least we do things by bombs democracy to our mutual benefit. <laugh>

I think pretty much every super power can take ownership of their **** ups in the last 100 years. No one here seems to be denying the US carried out this atrocities, but you seem to fall back on it whenever counters you with a valid point.

Russia and the US seem to be leading the way by some margin though, if there was a league table

I don't fall back on anything, I'm stating what happened, why deny the truths of atrocities we have caused, we are quick enough in condemning Russia or China.

I'm reading it as people see our own American or EU superstate ideologies rules supreme, but it's like I said to you about your tour guide, it depends on who's telling the story.

So go back and actually read, and try and digest what's been said, rather than what you want to see, like you did with the inaccurate account of the British flag, as I would allow Scottish Independence, have you learned nothing, I don't support Empires.
