Though I agree with the overall sentiment of your post, our average attendances since the takeover have been 14,500 and last season they were 9,300, that's more than 'slightly increased'.

It's always been the case that a successful football club will generate more interest, namely bums on seats. This season it was always ever going to be consolidation, despite what Acun illuded to. Get some investment on the team and squad, show a sign of intent, get a few good results and they will return. As the famous film QUOTE goes 'build it and they will come !'.

Anyone think here is a modern marketing conundrum/ problem ? If I didn’t watch City and they decided to give cheap access how would I know in the offchance I might take the grandkids or go myself maybe previously I thought it way too dear? 20 years ago I would have a night paper and I am pretty sure there would be a very obvious promotion in it . Unless I subscribe on line to the club or mail I’d never know . The older gen bought a paper it was a habit , looking at the mail on line is probably not for recent generations. They now probably only look fir what they are interested in ? All good ideas welcome!!!

I think this is probably quite accurate.

The £2 ticket offer was great and I'm not here to dismiss it, but at the same time we should remember that its only £2 for juniors, seniors and people who've come with a member. So if you are a standard adult who doesn't know a member, its full price.

In a world where everyone wants everything to be easy, that barrier to accessing a £2 adult ticket might be too much, either they don't know a member or the members that they do know have already given their £2 ticket away.

I appreciate that this indicates some are too lazy to take advantage of it, so they weren't really bothered anyway. I do think we'll have more members next season, so if this was repeated then I suspect the gates will be higher.

Thing is how do you get to know about events or attractions unless you look ? If you don’t naturally seek them out you don’t know . Like I said the circulation for the old mail was pretty enormous so a wider readership - if you parents bought one you’d probably have look however young , I’d look for ads for concerts etc cinema

I think you are relying on it dropping into people's Twitter, Facebook and Instagram feeds now really.

But there is a large element who don't really pay attention to what's going on around them. Take The Awakening in Hull City Centre this weekend. Quite well attended, but there will have been a lot of people who had no idea it was going ahead.

Targeted advertising, ads on the HDM website, posters around the city (I assume) would all be avenues taken.

    Targeted advertising is cheap too.
Facebook to everyone within a certain demographic is only a few quid in relative terms (and yes I know not everyone is on there, but people are allowed to tell other people who aren’t)
Can’t rely on paper copies of HDM anymore whether we’d like to or not.

I know exactly what we are, and also what we could be. And understand fully that it's no easy task to stay there. But yes, ****ed up 3 bites. Next to nothing to show for them (bar memories and the all important shattering the perceived glass ceiling with the 1st one), with the 3rd being an utter **** up; no one can seriously suggest otherwise.
    Anyway, onwards and upwards

Funny how we view things in hindsight, and come to two opposite conclusions. Yours being an utter mess up. Here is my take on it.
The Allams were in the hole for about 100 million and whoo hoo we regain our place in the land of monopoly money. Whoever put an end to the spending probably saved the club from going out of business by not loading further debt onto the books. The resulting relegation came with 100 million windfall. The first year of the much improved Sky etc deal. City received more that year for relegation, than the winning team the previous year. And of course then came the hyper inflation of transfer fees and wages. City being beneficiary to the former.

That is ancient history sorted, fast forward to the here and now. Allams, 100 miliion in the hole ish, total wealth 300 million ish.
Acun, total wealth 100 million ish. AND, people are screaming cheque book out???? Thank you Urika for this bit of into perspective as well. He paid half what another team paid for their second choice full back.

I am trying to think of the correct phrase for this. Game on, should be interesting, lord elp us?

Good post, if only more people could look at the whole picture rather then just let the personal feelings towards individuals overide

Shall we say. he paid nothing for the club, and the sat on the bench/sat in the stands full back cost 10 million. You don't get many of those before ya 100 mill starts looking a bit thin.

Like everybody posting, or even just reading here, we all want City to be up there, to be competitive, and, yes, even win at home. But not at any cost. City 'til I die. Not City 'til they end up a bankrupt shell playing Orchard Park.

Yeah I get that I was just intrigued who the actual full back was that's all, didn't know who you and the other poster were actually talking about.

Sorry, yes, I should have looked this up before quoting it. The answer is I don't know, and cannot work it out from their transfers.

Neco Williams isn't even a Fulham player.

Presumably, he was talking about Joe Bryan, who cost £6m and is currently their second choice left back (and cost more than double what they paid for their first choice left back).

Ah think I got confused as I think they’ve got a £10 million buy out option that they’re looking likely to use

Aha, misread, misinterpreted the "double" bit. Cheers, that makes sense.
