Here we go again with the FFS. I hope he does spend. I hope the fans back him and fill the stadium every week, and not just when its £2 to get in. But he bought the club for less then Fulham paid for their second choice full back. That is the competition. That is my point.
I wish it had of become a habit at City. We couldn't even sell our allocation of tickets for Wembley. I know people found reasons for not going, and for staying away during our second and third seasons in the PL. But I don't see many reasons for not going now. Before someone answers that, if you only go to football to see your team win every week then you are following the wrong club with Hull City. And it would be nice for the new owners to see the same commitment from the fans that they are demanding off him in the summer.
There are loads of clubs just like Hull City whose fan base goes up when they win and down when they lose, there are a few clubs who were good years ago and managed to maintain a high number of loyal core supporters. Lets hope our new owner can 1. get us winning on the pitch and 2. use innovative and novel ideas to keep those new fans for the long term unlike the clueless ****s who have just buggered off.
Or if we're in League 2 but with a bit of feel good factor and buzz. But we love to ignore those times in order to play the club down don't we.
You mean when we where doing well and started winning/moving up the leagues.... *Edit* not sure where or how I'm playing the club down either. Feel free to explain
No. Crowds at the KC were big from the day it opened, when we were a mid-table League 2 side. And they remained very good until he Allams started pushing away as many fans as possible. Now the posters who defended them throughout that process of destruction love to take any opportunity to talk about how low our crowds are and use it to play us down as a club. The **** crowds were temporarily inflicted on us, they're already increasing and with Acun's drive we'll fill the place again before long.
Posters who defended them throughout...or do you mean people who's opinion was different to yours and could maybe look past their personal dislike of the allams to look at things objectively from both sides? I know I slated them when deserved but also didn't just blame them for everything without question. If things had gone the way the stay aways and anti Allam brigade ( who forgot all about their hatred and principals for the Chelsea game funnily enough ) had predicted then we would have a full house the second the allams went. Yet again I'm still not sure how I'm playing down the club? Talking honestly about what our "fans" are like and the only way we will see a full house...yes! Playing down the club... I'm still waiting for you to explain that one.
Selective memory. The crowds were big when the stadium first opened but they didn't stay so. Even in our first promotion to the Prem in 2008 we were down to about 14,000 around mid Octoberish for one home game, could have been Coventry ? The Allams were not even at the club then. If pointing out that even with yesterdays amazing £2 ticket offer we were still the second lowest crowd in our division is playing the club down then i think you've got the wrong end of the stick. I was asking were the crowds are ? I hope to see the stadium full again every home game and not just on £2 ticket offers. North Ferriby couldn't survive on admission charges as low as that.
What I was trying to say is that many of the teams that have a good regular support had that for many many years which builds loyalty , it becomes automatic habit as it does for many regulars at city , like me they never think that they won’t go and maybe fit holidays etc around it. Some of the newer younger fans will need success some won’t . Let’s hope we get consistency and the crowds could creep up and stay . Although I’ d rather see the rugby clubs disappear that might help - I’ll get my tin hat !!!
What gets me about the RL clubs is they are absolute part time "fans".....i was in asda kingswood at 2.30 ish and i saw at least four fat ****s with efffcee shirts on,obviously they wasn't going to watch the ****.....only time they go is when they reach wemberlee.,yes lets hope both teams die soon,...and **** the tin hat...
What the **** has the rugby clubs got to do with a discussion about our attendances? People on here complain when City fans get blamed for trouble at rugby games but don't mind bringing rugby up in a topic **** all to do with them. Double standards.
I think it's really small time thinking that something as minor as RL is enough to stop us getting people to games. A lot of teams have several major football clubs around them. 2 RL clubs being the only competition for miles around seems quite a favourable position to be in to me. There's huge potential here for bigger crowds, hopefully this ownership can be the one to tap into it properly.
The club went to great lengths to indicate Acun is the only owner of the club, as the 100% owner of Acun Medya, which in turn owns the club. The suggestion of other backers - at least at this stage - seems to be a bit far from reality. If Acun is going around claiming that's the case I'd be curious about how the details work out in the wash. As Chazz said, there'll be a lot of eyes on what we actually end up spending in the summer since we ended up spending, what, 1m? In January,
I agree, what Acun is doing is the right way, particularly getting the young to attend. I can remember as a kid how magical the pitch and atmosphere was and once kid sample it, it's can we go again Dad, and off you go. It will take a bit of time, but if we start winning a few games next season then the interest will start to grow again.
Agree with the main points made, but I don't think No 2 is even necessary. What happened under the Allams is that they did the opposite of your No 2 i.e. use innovative and novel ideas to drive away / piss off fans for the long term. We'll never know, but had they been anything like decent owners, I'd say there's every chance we could have finally built up our own "high number of loyal core supporters" over this past 20 years. Instead, the building started during the first half of that period but was then cruelly decimated during the second half. Success is a factor for sure, and we've ****ed up 3 bites at the cherry, with the 3rd one being an incredibly negligent, unfathomable, unforgivable, self inflicted **** up. Great if we get really positive "innovative and novel ideas", but simply being decent owners and going about things in a 'right' way would be a huge step forward and would hopefully continue the re-building and longer term retention.
****ed up three bites Jesus Christ we’re a small club with no history to speak of ffs You make it sound as tho it’s so easy to stay in the pl Of the 20 clubs in the pl in 2008/9 ten are still there 6 are in the championship and 4 are in league 1 That’s how difficult it is to not **** it up And we’ve got our right new owner now He’s hitting the media he’s doing cut price tickets And we’ve only slightly increased There should be a massive upsurge Let’s hope by next season there is but he needs to get his hand in his pocket asap because what we have now won’t sustain us next season
I always said that fans wouldn't return instantly. Just because the Allams have gone it's naïve to think that people who haven't attended for 6 years or whatever it is, haven't found something else to do in the meantime. For large chunks of that 6 years you haven't even been able to listen to it on the radio, so if you aren't great on a computer & don't know how to get the ifollow stream, then it's not easy to follow the club at all. It makes supporting the club extremely hard. We've shown zero ambition over the last god knows how long and although there's £2 tickets, they aren't for everyone. I used to know lots of members, now I don't know any and the £27 ticket price (or whatever it is) is a lot to watch a limited team at this level that don't score goals and have lost 4 on the trot at home.
