Am looking forward to having a pint or three before kickoff wearing my Saints shirt and my sun glasses, sitting on this lovely sunny day outside the White Star. What happens after will be in the laps of the football gods (or the referee..).
I'm open to three changes from our "usual" XI. Willy for Fraser. (That's neither here nor there, really.) Stephens for Bednarek. (Bedders has, overall, disappointed me this season.) Perraud for Tino. (They're both good enough to start, and we already somewhat switch between them anyway, so I'm fine with either of them playing alongside KWP.) But beyond that, I'm not sure I'd want anything else. Maybe Redmond for Ely, at a push. But I'd rather not, because I see Redmond as generally a better impact player from the bench than Ely. I get that the main players have let themselves recently. And I get that the last time we won was in the previous round when we started with the cup players. But the only slight chance that I give us is if the best players start and they turn up with their best game.
Another one of these today please Che and we'll need the defence to put in an heroic shift again too...
All we have to do is stop City scoring for 90 minutes, while somehow contriving to score one at the other end. Doesn’t sound that hard. They don’t even have a proper striker, and we’ve got loads.
Don’t give us much of a chance today.. but it does give me my first chance to put my brand new baby daughter in a saints shirt for the first time COYR
Amazing insight Archie I'd go as far as to say the team that scores the most goals wins and today it will be Saints. Please footy gods I'll make whatever sacrifices deemed necessary.
Don't mind that bar the strikers as I'd have preferred to use the pace off the bench. Hopefully we're not out of the game come the hour mark. Let's see what happens. UTFS
Doesn't look to be our strongest line up although after 3 losses in a row we would likely have changed things up anyway. Will save any criticism of our line ups after Ralph proved us all wrong against West Ham. Plus if we lose to City it is unlikely due to be down to our line up!
