What would you expect to see in terms of ‘quality coaching’ in 2 weeks Jammy. Genuine question.

So far we’ve seen changes to set piece defending which looks better.

We look vulnerable if sides switch play quickly but by clogging the middle of the pitch it appears to be resulting in fewer clear cut chances for the opposition

    we’re still creating chances.

Any expectation for quality coaching is for the future milky.

For now I'm just happy he's been able to help inspire the team to two very much needed positive results.

Think its worth reminding everyone that in the MLS its much tougher than the SPL where there are only two teams, yet JM made history winning back to back league and cup doublesand with the highest points in history. Austria is also tougher than the SPL and yet again he won back to back league and cup doubles. Just playing devils advocate but he did say his job starts in the summer and right now hes just tinkering with easier stuff and getting more complex every week. International break will hopefully show more improvements fir the Saints game?

It's currently very difficult for Marsch. It's all happened very quickly for him and us.

He is heavily reliant on Jacko for information on the squad and how they are as individuals. I don't believe he has his coaching 'team' in place just yet. He sounds like he is doing multiple roles as Bielsa's whole coaching team left with him.

The players are programmed to the unique style of Bielsaball and have been for 4 years. It's almost instinct to follow your man everywhere and the players still do this as the game wears on and they get tired and concentration levels drop. You can see Marsch shouting at individuals trying to snap them out of Bielsaball reflex actions. That's why the games still become stupidly open late on.

The fans still shout after their old coach which must be tough to hear when you walk in to a new job. He remains very respectful about it all.

If you get to the very basics of it all, it's a new country, new city. Moving house, sorting the family out, getting used to driving on the wrong side of the road etc.

As Doc says, he has only tinkered with the easier things he can change. The zonal press, defending corners, playing narrow and more direct. The only other thing he could do is get the team working together and try and get morale boosted. He looks a hell of a motivator and I think he has nailed it by promoting the ever sulking Rodrigo to the 'leadership' team. Since then Rodrigo suddenly wants to press and run and foul. Got himself a couple of goals too and suddenly Raphinha now looks at his mate trying his best and he has started to turn the corner. The whole squad looks happier and the 23's are now playing more minutes.

We still look naive. We still look sloppy. His interviews can be slightly cringy for me but I can't really fault him too much for anything he has done so far. The real test will come with his summer recruitment and how we go from the start of next season.

The guy ultimately wants to play the game like Klopp. Its a very similar idea and formation. Rangknick at scum wants to play it too but he doesn't have the players to do it (you try getting Ronaldo, Pogba, McTominay to press leaving McGuire one v one at the back). We do have the energetic style already but he needs a full pre season to really drill it in to the squad and a lot more quality in the squad.

At championship level with average players Bielsa excelled at “Coaching”….

If we signed a player like Mo Sallah or Kevin De Bruyne how do you coach them to be better? You can introduce a style of play and if they’re good enough they’ll be capable of implementing it immediately.

Surely at this level it’s less about improving a player and more about improving on a game plan? The better the group the quicker they’ll get to grips with it.

The better the coach, the greater they’ll have the eye for a player already equipped with the correct skill set.

This is where I felt it was strange with Rodrigo, he was already a Spanish International yet Bielsa could never extract the best from him. At 31 you’re never going to make him a better player, you need to realise what he does well and find a position that suits that in your setup.

JM needs a transfer window, hopefully we’ll have the cash to bring in the players he needs, if he spends it worse than Bielsa did then we’re in super trouble

oh come on you idiot. They’re professional footballers. A good coach comes in, provides a few tips and they should be like Man City.

I know it’s a championship squad that’s been over achieving and everything but if this yank can’t get a late run for Europe going then fck the useless cnut.

Poor Fatfwanky not even half time and 2-0 down to Palace. All this will not help them back in the league games

Fatfwanky ow 3-0 down but to be brutally honest what has Fwank done in management? Did zero for Derby even though his team was filled with Chelsea kids. He wento Chelsea and took over a team worth a billion quid and did nothing except bet sacked for being out of his depth. So he failed in the championship and failed in the prem with a massive club with massive players. What made the idiots at Everton think Fwank would save them, and people complain abot Jesse Marsch?

More importantly than Everton getting thrashed in the F A Cup, is Brentford losing to Leicester in the league ;)

We have a chance of jumping above Brentford and Newcastle if we beat Southampton

Starting to look up rather than down, that was a massive win against Wolves

On the coaching and team point of this thread, when KP gets fit, do you think JM will continue with two in the middle? KP and Rice for example worked very together for England. Maybe KP and Aaronson - if we get him - together in the middle - one AM and one (KP) more of a DM. Rice did the AM bit, with KP providing the anchor.

His formation usually uses two defensive midfielders. It will be KP and Forshaw unless we buy someone else.

Aaronson used to play further forward sometimes in the 10 position and often in one of the 'wide' positions.
