At the end of the day they were simply better than us ... but .... we didn't do ourselves justice. Too many having off day, plus stupid mistakes.
Yep, we didn't play too badly on the whole, but those are mistakes that pro footballers should not be making. Still too hesitant going forward for me. Can we knock the £2 thing on the head until we're better? That's twice we've done it and twice we've underperformed. Suppose after spending a year playing in front of no fans, these lads aren't used to bigger crowds.
At least we ended the goal drought at home. Left it late but Eaves was one of our better players today and put in plenty of effort despite his obvious limitations. We still need another 4 points from somewhere to make things safe.
Pretty poor. Their first two goals were mistakes by us. I thought Alfie and McLoughlin were uncharacteristically woeful and nervous. Also have no idea why Shota started Docherty ahead of Slater.
The announcement to be made shortly to shake the world of football is that the club will pay supporters to attend home games.
Unless he had a knock, there was zero reason to drop Slater for Doc today. Our midfield looked the best they’ve been all season against Coventry. Docherty’s cameo on Wednesday was awful. I don’t understand why Slater was dropped.
For all those screaming for Huddlestone to be in the team, today reminded us of what a liability he can be in defence - how many needless free kicks on the edge of our area has he given away over the years? Ridiculous for such an experienced head.
I don't blame either defender for the first 2 today. It's the same problem we've keep having. There's no simple out ball for them, so they end up trying these ambitious passes which are so unnecessary. The midfield have to do more, take the second goal today. Doc was gesturing for it but he was completely unaware that Campbell (I think) had read it and was about to pounce. He needs to have the ability to find that half a yard of space so it's an easy ball and avoids the goal. Smallwood was behind their midfielders too. Tom comes on and that problem immediately disappears, he's a master at creating space for himself to receive and progress the ball but as we saw for the 3rd goal, his legs are gone. It was a sensible free kick he gave away in the situation as they'd have had a very good chance anyway. Good free kick mind. The priority for the summer (along with a striker) has to be somebody who can play deep in midfield, has good energy and can pass and dictate a game. We're desperate for someone who always wants the ball, we just don't have that. The simple way to beat us is to let us have more of the ball, we have no idea what to do with it
Gunna call it now......shota is not the man to try and take us forward next season....we need a decent experienced championship manager ( few and far between i know)...…..sick of seeing opposing players and managers celebrating on our pitch.....
Completely disagree, we're improving under Shota. No manager was going to come in and have the effect Cooper or Wilder have had at Forest or Boro. We simply don't have the players and this is still a team made up largely of L1 players that had an embargo during the summer window
Meh we’ll never know until we see him manage a decent championship team because that’s all Luton are on paper but their manager is getting a hell of a lot out of them
