With a tow from Russell. Let's not forget that. The ferrari engines are top of the pile. The red bull second on engines and all the merc engines are out the back. Why who knows but if that's locked in now it's huge. The thing is the merc was also understeering so they have not got the stability. Yesterday I said Engine check Downforce. Too much. Stability. No Drag.check. Now I have to wonder if its even worse for Mercedes that even if they solve these issues that their engines are really down so this second a lap zero side pod could be all that's keeping them close
Exactly... They've got a lot to do to make this a three way fight. That Ferrari though... It was always too beautiful to be a donkey! Seriously love that car.
Seems like a couple of issues. The porpoising, not getting the heat in to the tyres, and just general power. Are they being conservative with the engine modes?
I think Max had a same tow from Perez! We need to watch the next race to see if George gets the tows from Lewis as they used to alternate until Lewis needed every possible help to try and win championship then Bottas was always sacrificed.
Toto just been on Sky and stated they have no idea as to how the power unit is in relation to the others, but he did say that they had a lot more drag today than RB and Ferrari. However, the performance of the other Merc runners doesn't bode well either does it?
Oh I think they've probably already called it. Russel dropped it first sector anyway. There's even more engine power and tow tracks coming to see where this really is
Who knows. He won't admit they are locked into a less powerful engine. If he is saying that with zero side pods that they have more drag then he must be saying they had cranked the front and rear wing and were running higher with less ground effect but were still bouncing horribly. Where else is drag from??
After first go at pole. He goes mad.on radio about red bull telling him to preserve tyres for last segment. He basically tells them he's right and they are wrong for all to hear when it can be done in pits easily between the team.
