Thought we were excellent against Leicester and Norwich.

The performances against Villa and even last night at Wolves were as bad as anything under Bielsa.

I don't blame the managers at all. The players just constantly switch off at crucial times and make brain dead decisions on a regular basis. Even last night after we took the lead, Wolves pumped a long ball forward and Cresswell and Struijk just let the ball bounce 25 yards from our goal instead of just heading it away. Eventually we scramble it away and we get a throw in in the corner. Ayling decides to take a quick throw in when it was time to just run down the clock. It's ****ing basics and we don't do them. What the **** do they do in the video analysis?

What I like about him he's got everyone involved he's a player manager. he's had everyone in and chatted to them he's deffo done something to Rodrigo he now looks like he wants to play. he's also very hands on and like to be involved arm around the shoulder type of guy he congratulated every player last night on that field to every person on that bench . Totally different management to Bielsa... Bielsa was more about the job Jesse is like one of the lads.
On his Football he obviously needs time I don't think we are playing much better but we are starting to carry some luck. Let's be honest here we were dead and buried yesterday at Ht. The harsh red card gave us belief and the 3 points. Yes we still did well to get the 3 goals but we would of been well beaten playing against 11.
But we deserve some luck and them 3 points yesterday could well be the 3 points that keeps us in this division.
Look let's not carried away we are struggling and anyone who thinks things are starting to smell of roses even after back to back wins need to look hard at our performances of late.
Massive 2 games now Southampton and Watford 6 points from these would has us dreaming of staying up. 4 Points keeps us in the driving seat. One thing that can't happen is Watford beating us if they do its all open again.
Great chance now to give us breathing space before the death fixtures of Man City and Chelsea as there is noway we are picking points up from these games in our current form even after back to back wins.
Happy and content this weekend but I know it's far from over.

The home games against Chelsea & Man City will give a few more clues as to Jesse's ability to make us more compact and therefore able to at least compete against the top teams. Whilst not expecting any points from those games can we at least make it difficult for them ?

So far I think most of us would think that unlikely.

On a more positive note there's definitely been a change in mood amongst the squad and that is definitely 100% down to Marsch. The players look happy and as though they're enjoying working under him which is great to see.

We should have got something from Chelsea away.

The way City play is a big problem for any team that press high in numbers. The quality they have means they can play through that press fairly often and can attack the space behind in numbers. That seems scary as our players haven't quite got the new way of pressing right just yet. Too many times we go as individuals or in 2s and 3s when there should be 6 or 7 pressing together (like Liverpool). City will tear us to pieces.

We look a lot better defending corners with a mix of zonal and man to man marking. We are still very open but it's been dialled back from Bielsaball.

There's a tried and tested way to stand a chance of beating Man City and it's not exactly rocket science.

Defend deep, frustrate them and then hit them on the break.

Last season by defending for our lives with 10 men we somehow pulled it off and this season Spurs have beaten them twice using the same tactics. The only team that can high press them is Liverpool and even they can only do at at selective moments throughout the match.

Let's see what Jesse can come up with as I'd like to think there's a pragmatist in there alongside the idealist. The way Villa had us chasing shadows should also have made him think about tweaking the approach for different opponents.

Just watching a crap Villa against Arsenal and whereas Gerrard played Watkins, Coutinho and Ings against us he only played Watkins up top today and they are shyt. So did Gerrard have a lack of respect for us by putting 3 up top or is he just clueless because he hasnt had a shot on target today and boot polish head wins 3 points for his Arse team

    Agree.

The problem we have is that to sit deep and defend the players have to be switched on for 90 minutes. Our lads can barely concentrate for a single corner.

I don't see Marsch making crazy decisions if I'm honest, though its been a crazy couple of weeks though. He has certainly spread unity and trust throughout the ranks when confidence was low. On the pitch, some of the tweaks he has made sense. We are using the low ball a lot more now, in fact, both our goals v Norwich came from long balls. Gelhardt had been recovering from a bad back, so can't fault Marsch wanting to get 45 mins from Bamford.

I believe the crazy decisions revolve around Bamford. For me he should have come on later and Jesse now admits Paddy wasnt fit enough and was feeling bad in warm up. Gelhardt scored against Wolves U23s at Wolves last season and ripped them apart. He also scored his first senior goal against Wolves, so would have let him run rip against them and bring Paddy on later. Hewas then forced intousing Greenwood so he could save Gelhardt for later but shyt happened so his plan was trashed.

The original post is asking the question about Jesse, not giving an opinion just highlighting the pluses and minuses so far. However one thing thats changed is the chaos now allowed on the touchline. Jesse and his staff and subs are now getting involved in arguments, cheering their mates on, rushing onto the pitch, complaining to the 4th official etc. I love it but Bielsa hated it, wouldnt allow it, never questioned a ref and really just accepted any shyt thrown at us from refs or VAR. Jesse will probably kick off too with the refs like Lampard….

2 wins on the bounce will now have Everton really worried and especially Burnley, Watford and Norwich. Everton will worry as they know they are 4 points behind us and yes they have games in hand but they are crap and have a harder run in than us, always prefer points on the board to games in hand. Southampton will also be worried and so too will Brentford….. Brighton…

"..... it will be a deep wound for Burnley and Watford"

In the euphoria of the moment, that just didn't occur to me, but you're spot on - but don't expect them to admit it! If asked, they'll be all bluster & talk of being super-focussed, & all that ****e.

That wouldn't be the same country that produced the first British team to win the European Cup, would it? Not only that, but the squad all lived within 30 miles of Celtic Park - a record owned singularly by them. No other team has ever managed it, & it's unlikely they ever will.

And don't forget the mighty Partick Thistle. We won the League Cup against Celtic's (losing) 1970 EC Final team (Dagleish etc.). The Jags, just promoted a couple of months earlier played a team of kids & were 4-0 p at half time. And yes, I was there to savour only our second cup win ever. (I know this para is a bit tenuous, but I take every opportunity to repeat it). <cheers>

So many twists and turns still to come Doc.

Watford for example could suddenly pick up 3 or 4 wins from their favourable fixtures and often we'll see unusual results at this stage of the season.

After the Villa match it looked like we were going down and perhaps even more so when Norwich equalised...very fine margins indeed at the moment.

Quality appointment? Did you watch the first half? Or the second until the questionable red? What happens when we lose this short spell of enjoying the rub of the green?

For some reason I'm reminded of when Peter Reid was charged with keeping us up. He came in and did well but the next season we were poor from the outset and ultimately went down.

    Hopefully I'm wrong.

So far Jesse's motivational skills have been impressive but I've yet to see any quality coaching or the ability to change things during a game as circumstances dictate.
