Many years ago I saw Nina Simone at Ronnie Scott's, she came on stage , late wearing an overcoat carrying a plastic shopping bag and proceeded to abuse the audience , played a couple of numbers that I did not recognise then left without a goodbye
Fast forward many years I am in the gym listening to Nina live at Ronnie Scott's on my ipod when this Nina lookalike walks in , 70yrs plus , overcoat ,2 shopping bags , large hat and gets on a running machine and does 30 mins medium walking pace still carrying both shopping bags full of groceries
I have been on some strong pain killers lately but stopped last week , why have I not heard of hard core Nina shopping exercises before

Sort of reminds me of a gig back in 1978. Had a mate living in the Midlands who was a big Santana fan, so we got tickets for Bingley Hall - otherwise a ****ing huge cattle market arena.
Well, he and his band came on an hour late and proceeded to just randomly play some mystic **** for 20 minutes, before disappearing off. House lights didn't come up so we all thought they were coming back on. 5 mins...10 mins... 15 mins... Nothing. Supportive claps had long since turned to slow hand claps before we and most of the crowd (1500 I would guess) thought ' **** you' and went home.

Carlos was apparently taken aback to come back on a few minutes later to an audience of 30 fans - and a handful of farmers who'd arrived early for the market the next day! <laugh>

I went to a 60th birthday party lastnight and they had a covers band doing punk and new wave , called Dogmatic ( no not the 80s band from USA) good time had by all , only one attempt at a pogo but he had to retire with a suspect ACL tear

I never met her, although I've seen her at a couple of things. One of Mrs B's mates knew her and said she was really lovely. RIP

Off to the Royal Albert Hall tonight to finally see the Psychedelic Furs gig that was supposed to have launched their new album a couple of years ago. I haven't been to a gig for ages, which probably explains the black mood that has dogged me all winter.

Thank **** for the spring and 'Talk Talk Talk'.

A Selection of Sinatra albums that were my Dads, I love the swing albums with the Nelson Riddle orchestra fabulous arrangements and absolutely timeless in my opinion. The bottom album 'Watertown' is a later album from the late 60s and has a very different feel and groove to it, much more the music of a man playing lounges in Vegas and though for me the earlier albums will always hold sway this is a very good album in its own way.

Yes but Nelson Riddle did the TV Batman theme. Blows any collaboration with Sinatra out of the water I say.

Incidentally I've the Jam do Batman live. Just saying.
