There’s a massive problem in this country with the standard of officiating! We see it week in week out across all sports that the people ‘in charge’ are just not up to it and nothing is being done about it. We have some of the best fans and often the biggest events that are being spoilt by it and it will lead to the best not wanting to come here to take part in anything for fear of ‘being robbed’ (unless of course they are getting massively paid and don’t care)
I’ve wondered about that. But for Ben Shalom (Boxxer promoter) to call it out at the end there like that I don’t think that’s the case. I often think the official already has an idea of who they think/want to win and unless something totally astonishing happens they all always lean towards that opinion
Watched the fight with my lad who boxes. On a whatsapp with coaches and fighters from the gym. Not one person thought Taylor was close. I had him 5 rounds down and some said I was being kind. Absolutely gutted for Catterall. Like my lad said, he would have been working for 15 years in the gym for this day, and 3 fellas can just take it away. I watch lads train in the gym 4 days a week and they absolutely put everything in. I travel to sparring sessions and fight shows with my lad most weekends and see what the lads do and the graft my own lad puts in. It is just a brilliant sport with so many amazing people putting hours and hours in for young amateurs who want a chance. At the end of it you can get a result like that! Shocking.
Got tickets for Fury Whyte for me and the lad. At least I can go to Wembley without the Sunderland baggage about the place.
Here's a question to stir your memories. Does anybody know the name of the only boxer to take a **** in the ring?
Class wasn't it. Wood wouldn't be denied. Smashed the body all fight. Conlon was brilliant too. Some ending.
