As far as I'm aware both Johnson and Starmer pleaded not to have a pay rise but its all done by an independent body. Nothing stopping them donating the difference every month, though.
I totally agree with this. The rivalry is over and NE football has been damaged forever. Some mags might see this, but looks like most won't admit it.
Seem to remember Cameron leading the way with “I’ll give the rise to charity” on an earlier occasion . Don’t know if he followed through or anyone else did. But I guess that any new MPs since then all started on the higher amount and didn’t ask for a previous increase to be knocked off
The only man i read about who donated part of his MP salary was On 15 October 2021, Sir David Amess, a British Conservative Party politician and Member of Parliament (MP) for Southend West, died after being stabbed multiple times at his constituency surgery at Belfairs Methodist Church Hall in Leigh-on-Sea, Essex.
What a load of ****! The rivalry is nowhere near over, I've been out for a teatime session down the pub and I've ripped the ****ers a new arsehole. Everything that's going on now is just sweet ammunition against the unwashed ****ers. We've had Yemen / Chelsea / Chi Onwura / Russia / Ashley / Saudi and everything in between, the sad ****ers are like shooting fish in a barrell. It's a whole new ball game man, they've got no defence against anything. Let's never give up on these tossers, they buckle under the slightest pressure. It's proper fun and games. FTM forever
Well there's that I suppose . But remember (or imagine if you're not old like me!) what they are like when they have a team that wins all the time. You're right that they've got no defence against anything but they just won't care. The only longer term hope would be some kind of real financial fair play that would make it possible for us to compete in time, and also make football less attractive to the sports washers and oligarchs.
But thats not the answer you will get. REMEMBER they are Politicians. They would say, 'yes, but very reluctantly and only because I had no alternative'. And they will keep a strait face while saying this. Lying is an art and PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT.
In the face of our Friends gloating, I forsee a shrug of the shoulders and a response of 'Your Lot have bought their success, fair enough. Enjoy it. But we ain't your Rivals anymore, Man City Are. It's Saudi Arabia against Abu Dhabi.
My brother is a Mag (mackem born) and I said this to him. We've been robbed of something that was special. The deeds of their owners are directly on their hands whilst they're cashing the cheques. Nowt to do with football now. They're truly on the side of evil and the wrong side of history.
If they'd won the title with Keegan, or Europe with Robson or Pardew, I'd have held my hands up and said, 'fair enough' ... ... but anything they win now will be tainted with blood. I believe the entire country would've cheered them if they'd taken the title from Ferguson but I think they'd be universally despised if the Saudis buy them a trophy. Football has had a whiff of hypocrisy, since Chelsea then City brought in owners to buy the title ... with the Saudi state buying Newcastle that whiff has turned into a stench.
Watched that with a mate from the dark side who has been unwell. This game has not helped him, but he is on the mend anyway. He made an interesting point, in that there were the first obvious signs , in the second half, of the wild and massive disparity in wages starting to show in players not putting it in and coasting. Shelvey was his main target, but there were others. Bang on I thought. As for rivalry, they are not anyone's football rivals now, save City and PSG. For the rest of the world they can all feck off and play in their own league, maybe with the odd human sacrifice at half time. For banter, the are barely rivals either, as even with all the cash they have had thrown at them over the last , almost thirty years, they are always easy to get the better of. This will only accentuate as they attract more and more half witted slow-brains to the honouring of a crazy bloodthirsty despot.
It is sad mate, the rivalry has gone now. Everton, Man Utd, etc, have spent big to get nowhere. Newcastle could take decades to win something but, in the meantime, they'll just be a little annoying.
Maybe, but when their murdering owners spend trillions and they still win **** all, I'll have a little chuckle.
Even if they don't win anything the increased number of Mag tops we'll start seeing everywhere will be crap. All worn by crap people, but still happening anyway.
