We didn't until 2009. Even all the pundits were saying we'll never go down. Then when we did and went back up, suddenly the pundits say we're relegation candidates every time we have a bad start. Only 6 teams never relegated from the Prem - Man U, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs and Everton. Everton are nowhere near the level of the other 5, even with massive spending. The 6 has a good chance of becoming 5.
Hardly a shock. They're on a terrible run and have a terrible defence. Newcastle are on a great run and have beaten better teams. Our first loss of the year was highly controversial, with a depleted side. If our side is close our best, we should very disappointed with a loss. I'd be ok with a draw, but we should be winning this.
They need a win more than us, but a loss would be expected considering how terrible they are. Our form is non-comparable to theirs.
Like I say their fans will say they should win this game because nufc arent great. The reality is nufc are away from home at. Difficult ground to play at. I see a tough game tonight..
Other way round IMO. I think NUFC will channel the injustice/disappointment of the Chelsea game and use that energy to go again tonight. I don't see Everton winning - they seem completely shot and in a perverse way remind me of Newcastle in 2008/09.
The form guide would indicate we have a good chance here, but I do get what Chaos is saying. Its away from home and they will be really up for this one. Its one of their few 'winnable' games (on paper) coming up. I think we should have enough to get a result. But it wont be straight forward. Especially if Joelinon is still out - that could be crucial. Even a draw suits us more than them and I'd be quite happy with that. But hoping we can sneak 3 points here, as our run in isn't that easy either. I just hope we don't do anything silly early on to ruin the game. No stupid red cards or unnecessary penalties/dangerous free-kicks.
We're ****? We're the 2nd best team in 2022 lol. If we're close to full strength we should win this. But part of me is thinking 1-1/2-2 draw for some reason. We should be scoring against one of the worst defences in the league.
Can't keep getting result after result without our best players, eventually it will tell, just hope it's not tonight.
VDB and Alli will probably be up for this more than most with a point to prove, following their bad press about justifying choosing Everton over us, to avoid a relegation battle. What's the betting one of them plays an absolute blinder? Or maybe scores a lucky winner deflected off their arse?
Good, none of ours boys in the England squad. Been lots of talk about Burn & Targett, but for now I'm pleased they can just concentrate on NUFC. They can get international honours when we are safe and riding high.
Great news I hate England anyway... Beating up Italians and diving for penalties in semi finals vs Denmark was the final straw for me.
I’m going to say this - if the managers had swapped at time of appointment, we’d still be heading down.
