City are currently just outside the play-off zone, at 7th, with a game in hand. It's so tight that any loss or gain of points is likely to make a fair difference. It looks like this: Soton (1st with 27 pts) v M'boro (3rd with 24 pts) West Ham (2nd/24 pts) v Lesta (14th/19 pts) Palace (4th/23 pts) v Reading (15th/17 pts) Leeds (5th/21 pts) v Cardiff (9th/20 pts) Derby (6th/21 pts) v Pompey (15 pts) Forest (14 pts) v City (7th/21 pts) Brum (8th/20 pts) v Brighton (13th/19 pts) Millwall (12 pts) v Ipswich 10th/20 pts) Watford (10pts) v P'boro (11th/19 pts) Burnley (15 pts) v Blackpool (12th/19 pts)
still only early in the season mate. i think the league will shape up differently in a few months, certain teams will drop out of the race.. palace, derby etc... i mean look at brighton, start of the season they were fighting for 1st with southhampton.. now they're 13th and not really winning games.
Yeah, I know.....I just have a lot of time on my hands at the mo! (Laid up with a bad leg). Still - it'll be an interesting weekend, and: we need three points!
The league is incredibly tight between 2nd place and about 14th/15th. We'll see it take shape after the Christmas schedule but if we can remain in and around the top 6 until then then we can look towards a promotion push.
and to compound Brightons misery today they have taken billy paynter on loan from leeds. LOL. far to early on the league table. wait until january 3rd 2012 when everyone has played everyone at least once. maybe after Hull City have played Birmingham @ home on the 7th December the table will have better shape.
The good thing is we are fairly injury free at the moment and with players coming back (hope that hasn't jinxed things). So we start these next few games in great shape. Just about trusting this side now consistency-wise and I can see us getting the points we need to keep us up here.
God, I'd hate to see us with a few injuries then! I get what your saying 'cos they're coming back soon, but we still have half our squad out injured as things stand. Back on topic, what is actually going on at Derby and Palace?! Are they fixing matches or something?
Believe me, for the norm in these leagues we are doing well for injuries. Just hope we don't get a really bad run.
I know there are other teams with similar situations but we have two long-term serious knee injuries, which are about the worst injuries you can get and one of them is one of our very best players. Add to that Oli, Dawson, Pusic, Barmby, Waghorn and the fact that even the youngsters out on loan all seem to have come back injured, I can't see there are many worse injury situations in the league.
