Just read about Huddersfield game being moved, all the fault of Sky TV, and therefore the fault of the people who buy Sky TV who give them the money to mess up football like this, and have also read about people who can't go now or have prebooked train tickets that they can't use so they'll have to buy more tickets, or take time off work etc, so here's my idea, why doesn't every Charlton fan who has Sky TV pay compensation to a Charlton fan who doesn't for the inconvenience of Huddersfield game being on Monday night, something like £20 which would be enough for new train ticket or a few pints etc, the club can ask Sky for a copy of their database, then cross-check it with the club's own database and take £20 from each of the Sky subscribers, eg from the credit card they bought their season ticket with, and give £20 to each of the adult non-Sky TV subscribers, it would make people feel a lot happier about the game being messed around, and shouldn't be that difficult to organise, if you agree please e-mail the club to say you support the idea, thank you for listening.

You are an idiot! You make no mention of the revenue due to the Club by virtue of the game being shown live on Sky. Think 'outside of the box', not just about yourself!

I subscribe to Sky, but l shall still be at the game.

I am not an idiot, perhaps you are talking to a mirror no offence, firstly subscribing to Sky which only someone who wanted to destroy football would do, secondly for thinking the club make money on the game, Sky pay them 30 grand, they will lose that much on away ticket sales alone, add in the less home sales, the less beer, food, programmes etc from less fans and season tickets staying at home, the club will lose around 100k because of the game being moved, ask the club they will tell you this is correct, it is not the club I am talking about losing out anyway, it is the fans who are more important, there were people flying over from Portugal for the game that will now miss it etc, Sky are destroying football, if they even remotely cared about real fans they'd add £10 a month to subscriptions and use that money as a fund to compensate fans who have extra expense when they move sporting events, but they don't care, that much is obvious.

My other idea to get back at Sky was that they are showing the game as it's 1st against 2nd, but if we and Huddersfield agreed to lose all our games between now and then, it would be something like 14th v 15th, which would make Sky look stupid, but that is quite extreme, and I don't think Huddersfield would agree to it because of their unbeaten run, but something has to be done to fight back against Sky, at Irish matches they chant "f*** RTE" all the way through any games moved for broadcast, we should do the same against Sky or stick jam on their camera lenses or something, just a thought.

I know l am repeating myself, but you should wake up to to the fact that you really are an idiot...

There are millions of people in this country who subscribe to Sky, not to mention untold millions around the world. Without them football, and in particular the premier league, would not be as entertaining as everyone knows it is.

likely you are an ex NOW. employee with a huge grudge against Murdoch?

Those people with Sky are all plastics, they think it is OK to sit in their armchair and watch a team they claim to support but they have probably never been to that city let alone the ground, if you are seriously in favour of Sky and actually go to games you are the first real football fan I have ever met who supports Sky, look at Charlton Life, every single person on there is saying f*** off Sky and campaigning that the club should refuse to move the game, a football fan who likes Sky is strange to me, like a lesbian who likes penises or something, I'm pretty sure you're the only one, stop scratching coconuts for a second and think about what a contradiction it is.

Sorry but you are sounding a little crazy! I have Sky and I am a Charlton season ticket holder, I also go to away games if possible. I was away the weekend of the Huddersfield game (1st home game I'd have missed this season) and was gutted to be missing it, but now, THANKS to Sky I get to go. It does benefit some people you know.

Also, if you go to a pub showing a quality football match, I'm guessing you either close your eyes or turn your back to the TV?

I'd like to give nutnut a bit of support on this issue. As we all know Sky has put huge ammounts of cash into the game, but who has actually benefitted from it? The big clubs, that's who! Especially the ones who are almost guaranteed entry into the wretched "Champions'" League every year. I don't really like what Sky has done to football, I preferred the unpredicabilty of football as it used to be, with teams like Ipswich, Norwich, Wimbledon, Nottingham Forest having their hour of glory at the top. And the change has resulted from the fact that a huge army of armchair fans are subsidising the teams at the top, with the result that instead of dreams of glory, promoted teams dream of reaching 40 points. Anything more and you reach that glass ceiling. Just my opinion.

Sky has made football worse in a traditional sense, no doubt about it. It's also made it more accessible/convenient.

With sky I can watch 5 matches over saturday/sunday/monday. All while being able to drink beer and eat real food while watching.

I still go to charlton games when I can (I'm a university in Coventry...so I can't make that many) but when I can't get to charlton games, sky gives me all the football I need. When it comes down to it, I watch football because I like to watch it. Who's playing is somewhat irrelevant. Blame the football league for bending over backwards for sky, not sky customers.

It also helps stabalise clubs if you use the money provided properly. Teams like Burnley and Blackpool could only have dreamed about these sort of finances years ago.

That said, do a Hull (or CAFC in our final season), and you can see the flip side of this argument.

There are pros and cons for Sky, but for me they are not the problem. It's the Scudamores of the world who will have more of a negative effect if given the opportunity.

my parents when moved from sidcup to where they are now had big big problems with sky ,sky customer service couldnt get into their thick heads that they where really moving,it took them 2 months to get this problem sorted out,i think on sky over the past few weeks have shown really poor programmes.the only decent thing on their is history -got say that as my dads cousen owns it! and discovery quite good but in all its a bit of a rip off if u have all the channels.

As a former employee of Sky Sports- they treat the their staff very well! They have bought football to the masses.. as much as there is bad about it, what about our CAFC friends who don't live in or around London? These games are the only time they might get to see us play.. thats not a bad thing.

They don't encourage you to be an armchair fan, thats down to the individual. I have many friends who have Sky, but it doesn't stop them going to the Emirates every other weekend.

Sky isn't the enemy (neither am I saying they are a saint), it's the people in charge of the Premier League.

I'm with FHB and Mikey in that I too detest Sky. Its a joke that they get to pick and choose games whenever they desire. There should be some sort of compensation system for fans who have purchased advanced train tickets/time off work etc (though I know this isn't at all realistic). They should also just choose games when the fixtures are announced rather than doing it a few weeks before the games are to be played.

BUT, I can see both sides of the coin - there have been a few times when Saturdays would have been awkward for me and then the game is rescheduled to a Monday (though too much of the vice-versa). Also, if I'm around a mates house and they have the footy on (especially two random foreign teams I have never heard of) I do quite enjoy watching. Though I feel Sky have helped breed this sit-at-home football-fan culture, spreading the appeal (and thus the money) of teams such as Chelsea, Man United and Liverpool.

The problem at our level, is that the TV money is a pittance. In the PL, Sky and ESPN pay the clubs a fortune, so have the 'right' to move games, the Football league gets the small change, but to be fair ow many neutrals want to watch L1 football anyway?

Your last bit was a good point Killer, the only people who matches like Leyton Orient vs Charlton (etc) would appeal to would be:
    a) Leyton Orient/Charlton fans who would rather be at home than at the game
    b) Leyton Orient/Charlton fans who can't make it to the game for whatever reason
    c) People who are channel-surfing and have found nothing else to watch.

    a) b) and c) make up a very small percentage of people, I can't imagine viewer figures are that high (I'm sure somebody will provide me with evidence to the contrary).
