Klopp chooses players that he believes will do the job he wants, not on reputation. And of course the club won't fork out the celebrity tax on the likes of Mbappe or Haaland.
and he gets it right more often than not. The club have really recruited players with the right talent and attitude and You hear very little dissent coming out of Anfield. Contrast that to what is happening at old Trafford and we should count our blessings for what FSG and Klopp.
I'm with the rest who think, if mo is asking too much just sell, we always find another gem, and I fully trust klopp and the scouting team to do just that if we do have to sell. Its really no biggie imo Rivals will be delighted but that won't last long when we carry on at the same level without mo. Which I think we could do with relative ease.
Salah is a truly world class player, but he seems to have built a special understanding with TAA, Firmino and Henderson specifically. He seems to have a telepathic communication with those three. He can go elsewhere and be brilliant... But he'll be Salah for Egypt good... Not Salah for Liverpool good.
Agreed. I actually think that he’d wind up other team members, managers or fans because he is so single minded that quite often, he just won’t pass. I don’t think he’d necessarily get the same treatment as we give him.
Good to see our fan base generally aligned on Salah. Of course I hope we make a deal, but he ain't worth the ridiculous sums
Liverpool have reportedly made an offer for Real Sociedad striker Alexander Isak, a Spanish publication has claimed. Elsewhere, Divock Origi, Joe Gomez and Neco Williams are all being linked with exits.
I've said it all along. Great player, and I want him to stay, but not by throwing our wage policy out of the window. Great players come and go, and there's always another waiting to take their place. The long term good of the club is more important than any individual. Mo Salah is great, but he's just Mo Salah - and we are Liverpool FC.
Not many players have left Liverpool under a cloud without regret it. I hope Liverpool and Salah can reach a compromise, but not at any cost.
You can see what happens when a club mortgages themselves for over the top wages. Messi has ruined Barca (along with stupid spending) Real haven't been the same since Ronaldo (and all the other massive contracts they handed out) Juventus have had to have massive cuts backs since Ronaldo Fifa needs to bring in wage caps, it'll stop players demanding money they just don't need and stop clubs going bankrupt trying to appease said players.
Going to be hilarious when neco Williams pays for haaland. Haaland (bar wages) is the cheapest forward on the market this summer Well.... bar mbappe. Who's free. Dunno why I bothered tbh.
This is the point, they don't need the money. I think it's to do with fragile egos - they seem to think the money they're paid is a direct correlation to their perceived quality "I get more money than you so I'm better", and think others being paid more is a slight on their quality. They don't seem able to see through that falsehood. Surely nobody really thinks that, Grealish for example, is actually worth £300k pw?
a wage cap won’t work. It’s not enforceable unless every club buys into it and lives by it…..and why would the richer clubs do that?
Not the right thread for it but while we are talking about wages - Zouma is being prosecuted by the RSPCA for animal cruelty and one of the further consequences of that is his weekly wage being inadvertently advertised when his club fine was announced (two weeks wages = £250k). His teammates are reportedly up in arms about it as it seems he is the highest paid player.
