It's as fake as Vera when every other pub or B&B in Northumberland has a black fella running it.

I'm all for inclusiveness but not when a giant shoehorn is needed.

But having a preference (e.g. Dimbleby) isn't the same as discrimination. OP is arguing women should be allowed nowhere near football programs, purely because of their gender. If he was just saying "I prefer Michael Owen's dulcet tones", there would be no issue.

Let's pretend you have a young son and daughter, both absolutely football mad, both the best of the best in their age group. Your son decides he wants to pursue a career as a footballer - great, he can be a millionaire if he's really good and works hard at it. Your daughter wants to do the same. You explain that she almost certainly can't because it's simply not a viable career choice. So she asks if she can talk about it instead like the people on the telly. The answer is no, because men don't like the sound of her voice.

    Is this equality?

The OP clearly has a preference for seeing a man commentate on a man's sport ...

... you see it as discrimination because you're seriously blinkered.

    You'll never recognise that.

After watching the s hit we’ve put out recently I find it strange some lads on here have a go at the women’s game.

You would think this is a new phenomon. Women have been commentating on mens footy for a long time. Jacqui Oatley commented on match of the day years ago. She even anchored the show. She has done radio and tv for years. I personally think she is excellent and demonstrates the knowledge required to do the job to a very high standard. As I said previously give me Emma Hayes over any other pundit on the circuit right now. I just dont find women commentating or being a pundit remotely an issue.

Maybe it is a footy thing where this attitude exists. Rugby union seems to do well with women on the show. Tennis has a good mix. Cricket too, and I would go so far as to say Isa Guha is one of the best across all sports in this country. Horse racing is another that has brilliant female presenters like Claire Balding, who also does an outstanding job at the olympics, along with other super women pundits.

There are of course poor female commentators, in my opinion. Just like there are poot men doing the job, again in my opinion. For me male or female is irrelevant.

The problem isn't women getting jobs or equal pay if they are good at what they do.
The problem in this pc liberal day and age is women, gays, and minorities getting "shoehorned" as smug puts it into positions not on merit.
And people like the op not being allowed an opinion or being critical without some snowflake crying with sand in their vagina :D

First time I have been called a snowflake <laugh>, if that is what you are doing. I am far from it in reality.

I merely have a different point of view, which I reckon is worth sharing. I dont feel women are ruining BBC football, but the OP is entitled to think they are, we are allowed different opinions I reckon. I think there are some male pundits stealing a living and some female ones doing the same as well. There are also good ones from both sides. I think a good pundit or commentator has nothing to do with whether they are male or female, it is to do with whether they provide insight I find interesting.

As for shoehorning I hate to say it but I think it is what is needed in society in some areas, because we have many organisations that are not accessible enough. It is shame, but that is the reality as I experience it, all too regularly. No more on that subject from me though - that is my piece and I will leave it at that on here.

No I wasn't calling you a snowflake mate.
    <laugh>

I generally agree with most you said.
Apart from the shoehorn where I've witnessed people getting work on background rather than merit to appease the liberals.

It reminds me of the two armed response policewomen who complained they couldn't fire the guns provided due to the triggers.
Then sued the force for a substantial sum for not adapting the guns ffs.
If you can't do a job then you shouldn't be in it.

Heres a link for any snowflake that calls me out :D

Food for thought when you compare compensation serving armed forces get for having limbs blown off as mentioned in the article.

Imagine going to war and having one of these useless bints alongside you in a foxhole ?

Might as well shoot her first <laugh>

    Discrimination is discrimination ...

... you can't say it's not simply because it suits your agenda.

Women are being handed jobs simply because of their sex.

(I don't mean that in a casting couch way BTW.)

"Positive Discrimination" is a contradiction in terms, it is an oxymoron. You CANNOT "discriminate" positively as if you are choosing one "group" over another because of their sex, race, sexuality or age, that is in itself "discrimination" by definition. So you are in effect discriminating to prevent discrimination? Can these people not see this blindingly obvious truth, or are they "prejudiced" against the best person for the job getting it regardless of any box ticking exercise. I have stopped watching Football Focus because of this.

Mad that you can't understand how that is sexism. Literally stating he'd rather see a man commentate than a woman, regardless of their individual knowledge, ability, etc <doh>.

... Do you genuinely believe sexism doesn't exist in football today?
