It really is strange that we have over the past 5 or 6 years had a some good runs then a run of bad ones that upset the apple cart. LJ would be doing OK then go on a bad run where nothing went right, but pick it up again!
DH was not given 3 years to turn it around! was doing OK a bad patch and out the door... SAD THING was this was when the country, indeed the world, were in turmoil with covid and no crowds. In the first 5 days of "NP IN CHARGE" when he stated the games were down to the temporary management .. we have gone down hill faster than anytime in the past few years. 30 LOSSES IN 54 GAMES..WOW that is poor......
from 2016/17 to 2019/20 we lost 66 games and conceeded 242 goals thats roughly lose 1 in 3 and conceeded 1.3 goals ... NP actually not 54 games is less but even so is a loss every 1.75 games as for goals this season has set a conceeded record 67 [ 1.8 per game ] [ the split] season 2015/16 was 71 down to poor start by SC SO NP HEADING FOR 1 RECORD AT LEAST!......
said at the time should have stuck with what we had would have saved £4m +

But the games are so much better to watch. I read it here so it must be true.

I agree with Supcon on this, our players aren’t PL quality, and I wonder whether Nige and the coaching staff are able to deal with players at this level. The way they defend corners is comical.?they’ve had over a year now to work on it and I don’t see any improvement, that’s down to coaching, to keep blaming the players is not taking responsibility. The thing is if Nige doesn’t realise it’s down to him and his coaching staff it isn’t going to change.

Is it though? What has NP shown to say he is a better coach in the modern game? I think NP is a bit of a dinosaur, and while LJ was a bit too full of cliches, at least he was trying new/innovative methods. Which I might add, many top clubs are employing and where LJ got some ideas from, I doubt NP has spoken to another top club about advancements in training etc.

How crazy, because no manager has ever moaned about a poor pitch and the grass in the history of football... It may seem laughable, but these 1%ers can make the difference.

You aren’t seriously comparing looking after the “fuel” players feed their bodies with to measuring the length of the grass?<laugh>

I think the point is, new ideas are often ridiculed by those who don't understand them.... Regardless of what the actual technique being introduced is. FYI, it was a certain Pep Guardiola that LJ got this nugget from, but I guess Pep knows less than many of the 'experts' on here.

The fuel back in the day used to be fry ups, 20 ***s and 8 pints of beer.. extremes and percentages all add up.. oh, a decent pitch in those days was having the odd blade of grass, not the bowling greens we have today.

The only thing LJ achieved at City was to fracture the AG faithful.
And, reading the above seems it will be a while before we're all back on the same page.

You lot make i larf <laugh><laugh><laugh><laugh><laugh><laugh><laugh><laugh><laugh><laugh><laugh><laugh>

Bristol City FC have been in freefall for the best part of three years and were sinking faster than the titanic under boy wonder then his sidekick.

NP has inherited boy wonders squad which was struggling and has not had any money to spend like boy wonder had.

Time to judge him next season-amazed people thought we were going to be any higher than we are.The squad is ****.

Pep is dealing with quality players, every % could make a difference, we are dealing with players that can’t defend corners, and find it difficult to pass to someone in the same coloured shirt.

When we achieve better than what we had.. which imo we haven’t..
RR will sprout the same excuses but the truth is, we do have some decent players, which I believe may well not stick around.. our form has been streaky to say the least..
tactics as well as players have been the reason for our disappointments and dismal displays..
I’ve stated that NP should get a bit more time, dozen games into next season for a vast improvement.. I honestly hope it works out, but I won’t be holding my breath..

By now, NP should have at least got that right after being a year in charge.. which makes me wonder if he’s all that in the modern game..

Me, likewise. I’m still in favour of keeping him, but I’m beginning to wonder. Undoubtedly he’s come at a difficult time, & he has managed to achieve the goal i expected, which was survival. The thing that bothers me is how disorganised we are defensively, and we don’t seem to learn, or improve. I don’t see we’ve any alternative than to allow him the summer window and the first 10 or so games, but personally we need to improve considerably.

when you take a look back some on here moaned at performances because it was LJ or DH AND IN THE MAIN DOING QUITE REASONABLE compared TO THE DROSS OF THE LAST 12 MONTH'S ..... [ SOME CAPS ACCIDENTALas only typing wrong handed!!! ]
Flow charts etc do show performance dips after players were sold and for 2-3 seasons we did not have a settled "higher grade squad" we supplied other teams with the means to improve though. Also the high injury % didnt help, although currently not good was no where near 3-4 years ago!
we have this season seen 5 or 6 players be touted as "worth a tidy sum" because they are "quite good" look at most line up's and on the face of it above average so we should be about average in the league say 9th to 15th on around 50pts +
so reality is we are worse off .. but not a write off.. but dragging our heels but doing so with a so called "top drawer manager" .... !
