It doesn't really matter that we are out does it? It's just a distraction from the league really. We were never going to win it, Man City have decided they want to win this so we don't really stand a chance. On current form we are the 4th best team in the Premier league and the 3 that are better are in the next round so we would have probably got a tough away tie against Man City, Man Utd or Chelsea. In the coming months our league focus will be on games against those 3 so a cup would be a costly distraction. Look what happened to the league form of the the two finalists last year anyways. I'd rather focus on pushing for UEFA cup (or whatever they are calling it this year) qualification through our league position rather than messing about with cups we aren't going to win. Having said that though I wouldn't say no to winning the FA cup but I do think a decent league position is more important.

see your point but i saw this as our only real chance of silverware,if we'd have won this cup i wouldn't be arsed if we finished outside the top ten so gutted we're out.

Gutted we are out, but in hindsight we were highly unlikely to win it. If we got through there would have been the two championship teams, us and five of the 'top 6'. That is very unusual for the Carling Cup, so in a way I'm not bothered we went out, especially after being able to be part of that feeling when Cabaye's goal went it. Truly amazing!

Disappointed to lose in that way, to that team. But lets be real indeed.......are we going to beat Man Citeh/Utd/Chelsea/Ars/Liverpool???

Qtr final at home maybe............semi final over 2 legs is unlikely.........in the final at a neutral pitch agaisnt their respective ful strength teams, highly unlikely.

I just hope Blackburn dont draw Palace or Cardiff and get the hammering they deserve.........will ease the pain.

if you're in the final 8, winning is realistic.

Beating Arsenal would be quite realistic. Beating Liverpool or evn Chelsea would have been possible, though admittedly unikely.

Going to Wembley to get beaten by one of the Men (one Man, two Men), would have been enjoyable.

It would have been nice to keep an unbeaten streak, at least until we lost to a team that is better than us.

So yes, it matters a bit.

I see all your points and obviously I would have loved to be in the quarter final and anything can happen and we could have won the competition but we didn't beat blackburn and we are out of the competition. We have a tough run coming up Stoke Everton Man City Man Utd Chelsea is probably the toughest run imaginable in the league and a cup game (possibly a tough away tie to Man City, Man Utd, or Chelsea) in the middle of that would be a distraction during a period where we need to remain focused on the league if we can win 3 of those 5 games it would show that we are the real deal and it would certainly convince me that it is actually possible we could finish 4th! Don't get me wrong I love a cup run but for me league has to be the priority.

When we win the FA Cup we'll not even be the slightest bit bothered about losing this...

The FA Cup will be instantly forgettable because we'll win the league this year.

I don't care who was left in the draw! I wanted to win something. What would have happened last year if Birmingham had that same thought process? Now I understand people are trying to soften the blow but I want to see us lift a trophy. If we go out to the top clubs then so be it, but you never know in a cup, we could have played an amazing and gone through to the finals and won it. If every team thinks like that then there is no point of even entering the competition. So disappointed to go out to Blackburn, great comeback but we shouldn't have been in that position.

And then we'll finally pull off the Messi swap deal for an aging Shola.

**** you, you've ruined the dream!!! I'd rather scrap all those thoughts of trophies if it meant we lost our Shola!!!

    He is better than trophies...

Don't worry. In the future, technology will be able to create trophies that make tea and wear hats as well.

    You'll hardly notice he's gone

Id rather we got a good FA cup run, if stoke can make it to the final I'm sure we can!
and at least if we lost in the final of the FA cup to a top 6 team we'd most likely get in to europe
