I can't stand Anderson loud nostril breathing down the mic. Turned it off about 3 year ago. I dread to think what Anderson will be like when the Mags buy big and get good.

The BBC, hence British TV, choose to put English women's football fixtures ahead of Scottish men's football ....

.... I'd refuse to pay the licence on principal.

I am clearly in the minority. I find the men who are labelled pundits just as bad as the women, sometimes worse. They rarely have anything of value to say, in fact I laugh out loud at most of them for their idiotic outbursts. The best I have listened to recently is actually Emma Hayes. The worst is Roy Keane. Funny old world eh.

I remember when Sky Sports first got going. Super Sunday was the one game a week on tele. Used to go the club on a sunday and come in at 2 for dinner and they would be starting their 2 hours of 'expert build up" to the 4pm kick off. Always remember my old man turning it off and saying we listen to them talk ****e for 90 mins when the game is on, no need for anymore. Still the same largely. Very few say anything the fan in the stand doesnt say or know.

Emma Hayes is very good. Up there with the best pundits and I'd like to see more of her.

I like Keane as a pundit because he's the opposite of the bland cliché spouters, which is the vast majority of them, but I appreciate he's a bit marmite.

I don't really care about what any of them say, it's all about Sunderland for me and I'm only really interested in what people on here have to say. Doubt there's any pundit who can say anything fresh about us that hasn't already been thoroughly debated, same goes for any team.

Yes mate. Jonathan pierce was the main comentator in the last world cup. Male pundits were also involved like Dion Dublin from memory. Nasser Hussain doing the womens cricket world cup as well.

Sexism is still absolutely rife amongst football fans, and the women's game needs as much promotion as possible, imo. If you need proof, just look at this thread:

    1. The OP essentially states that a football show must be bad simply because it features women (no other reasoning or logic given, just "women = bad").
    2. There's an odd assumption that women don't pay for their own tickets (based on absolutely nothing).
    3. And, of course, the oh-so-original "shouldn't they be in the kitchen?" joke (using the term loosely).

Noone in here bats an eye to any of the above, it's just considered a perfectly normal thing to say.

Yeah, sexism is alive and well.

That's quite a hysterical response which sadly compounds some people's opinions.

You've based your entire argument on sand by misquoting and twisting the OP's initial post. If that's accidental it's regrettable, if it's deliberate that's poor tbh. You say 'no other reasoning or logic given' when he quite clearly explains his reasons. I'm sure we'd all agree that women's voices are more highly pitched and, when excited, become much higher which can be quite irritating.

If 'the women's game needs as much promotion as possible' then it may not be as attractive as you'd like it to be ...

... and, what's the rush, the men's game took ages to take off.

Why should the women's game be fast tracked.

... Really? His complaints were that women were "funny sounding", "shrieking", and "smiling". To be honest, I didn't consider any of those points worth addressing as they're so ridiculous... The only marginally logical argument you can make from that lot is "I don't like the sound of women's voices so get them off the telly". Sorry, but if you can't see how that is sexist then there's really no point continuing this conversation. It also makes me wonder how OP copes with life on a day-to-day basis when he can't stand to hear the sound of c.50% of the population speak?

The problem with your second point is that the only reason the women's game hasn't been around as long is due to institutionalised sexism. They have been told by society since the invention of the sport that they're not "supposed" to play. Sexism which continues to this day (an unarguable fact).

Your problem, and that of people like you, is that you instinctively see any criticism of women as sexist ... it's not necessarily the case.

Certain voices, even accents, are more suited to certain situations. I watch Remembrance Sunday and find the commentary by David Dimbleby to be absolutely fitting even if I don't admire his politics or beliefs. There may well be an ex-forces Geordie lass who knows ten times more than him but the voice and accent would be inappropriate imo. Despite loving NE accents I'd find it would grate on me.

As for the smiling you refer to its clear you, once again, automatically jump to the conclusion that suits your argument best. What the OP means, and he'll correct me if I'm, is that inane grins are typically used to mask a lack of competence or confidence. Women commentating on a sport they can never play may be PC but it smacks as false tbh.

It's like men having a phantom pregnancy ...

... some may empathise with him but most just shake their heads.

Even our lass was laughing at the amount of women dominating Football Focus just so the bbc could tick a box.
