If he's offered 300k plus whatever bonuses then he needs to pressure the club by playing a lot ****ing better than the last few games For superior player than anyone in the prem bar kdb but he is headed for slowing down territory. 300k is lfc extending to a territory that the overall structure is sustainable while giving a soon to be 30 year old his reward for some years and a risk he may not be worth it in 2 years time. If he insists then no problem. There's always another player. We just want a left footed player to play off the right.
I wonder whether the length of the contract is as much a sticking point as the wages? That appears to have been the problem with Gini.
Who knows. Henderson is supposedly now on 150k a week to 2025. He is already past his best as @Jimmy Squarefoot would say. Cos he is right... Henderson is past his best. So we have a player like salah who works so hard there's some expectation of him lasting 3 years at least but if he wants 5 then that could be 30million in wages poured down a drain.
Hendo's contract was too long - if you only consider his on-field contributions, but it's important for a club to have a number of old heads with the right attitude to mentor the young headstrong element in the dressing-room, so perhaps that was a factor?
Can’t think why anyone would want to go to psg unless it’s for one final pay day. Fans were booing the players in their last game that they won 3-0 cos they went out in the CL to madrid. If ever there was a club where the fans weren’t actually fans that is it. Gini must know he made a huge mistake going there. Is the extra few € you earn a week on top of already massive wages worth it to play in a meh lesgue with mercenary players in front of fans who don’t really like you.
Had to be really. And salah is a great example to young players too. Same for milner. If the dressing room is run well its half the battle and keeping the arrogance beaten out of Jones for example (that lad is well known for being a cocky little **** btw) until they grow up enough is important. The difference between us and man utd is start. But it's a trait shared by city and chelsea. You can see barca are a joke, psg a joke. Best dressing room is not about talent alone
There is some.reason why he is still around...... Are you saying div is the lad who gets klopp his weed? Cos I reckon klopp must have been on something when he gave the lad a new contract.
I disagree actually. The fans were protesting at the club just wanting to sign big names without the need to build a cohesive team….which is what they want. So I actually applaud their stance….they don’t care about the big name signings, they care about the team. What’s not to like?
Georginio Wijnaldum and Paris Saint-Germain acknowledge the move from Liverpool was a 'mistake' as they both look to cut their losses in the summer transfer window
Liverpool are reportedly closing in on the signing of Celtic youngster Ben Doak. The 16-year-old winger has attracted the interest of several European clubs, but Liverpool are about to win the race for his signature.
Will salah make it 3 gobshites who found the grass was not greener away from anfield? Still the extra few million is what they wanted so the lack of legend status comes with territory I suppose that unlike the old soaks of our respective eras these current players have no need to be considered legends at Liverpool as they don't intend to be back to do a pub tour or what have you. It's funny that lads like fowler and kewell and Jones and mcmanaman all feel thr need to have a job while now we are looking at better than winning the lottery types
Experience is the best teacher, Salah going to Barcelona, Real Madrid, or anywhere else in Europe, certainly he cannot be more popular than he is at Anfield. Surely he is not going to be sold to one of our rivals in the premiership.
Salah reportedly wants £400k while we are offering £300k plus performance related add-ons. I wouldn’t budge. You only have to look at the last couple of players at Arsenal or Utd to earn that money ‘because they must be signed at any cost’ to realise what the implications are. If Mbappe goes to Madrid, sell Salah to PSG for silly money (you know they’ll pay it) and give it to Klopp to reinvest….when has he ever got it wrong up front?
Exactly. £400k/w could get you two not quite at Salah level players. I obviously don't want to lose Salah, but no one is really worth £400k/w at the detriment to the squad.
Ermmmmm..minamino But the point is well made. But it's 20 league, 8 cl goals and 10 assists level of contribution we are talking about and only 6 are pens. So it's not a bad return but worth 300k not more. He needs to realise in his head that he shot to the moon season 1 and got all those plaudits but since then he's just been a top player not a messi or ronaldo or lewandowski. We have surrounded him with players. We need to improve the midfield next but if he wants to gift us the funds to replace himself that's fine by me. Diaz and jota will do nicely
Paying Salah £400 pw Sadio Mane would like to be paid at least 75% of that which is £300 pw. Does the end justify the mean?.
