Both amazing....but Messi's close quick feet, and his gift to think rapidly, and, his ability to unbalance players with a shoulder drop, is the best I've ever seen.
To have one player of this quality in a generation is amazing. But we got Messi and Ronaldo!! Ronaldo for me. Simply because he did it everywhere he went. Messi didn’t seem to have the stomach to try anywhere but Barca. The crocodile tears imo when he left were embarrassing. If he didn’t want to leave that much, why wouldn’t he take a massive pay cut to stay? Obviously doesn’t need the 300k a week!!
I said the same to a mate and he reckoned that the wage situation at the time, with whatever restrictions were being imposed on the back of financial fair play, meant that there was just no way Baracacould have signed him never mind how much he dropped his wages. I have never been arsed enough to check if he was right or not?
Thpight they signed someone shortly after he left on £20k a week. Sold someone to sign. Not 100%though!
Aye I was of the same opinion as you, greedy bassa etc... but mate said na they just couldn't sign him as they still have to sell players to bring the bill down. If he was that gutted he could have compromised somewhere to stay I'm sure
Ronaldo goals record is unbelievable to be honest. I doubt it will ever be bettered. To think he was a spindly winger when he started as well. The lad has been remarkable in many ways. His dedication mostly is what has got him to where he is. Attitude is everything with him. Him and Messi are different players. I would give it to Ronaldo though, by a bit as well. Like others have said he has gone all over the place to do it, has played in different positions and systems, and has done it on the international stage. I have a theory that both have done it in the most popular global era for football, and that means (in my daft opinion), both are a bit overrated in the grand history of football. I have a few players in my memory who I think were better, albeit they dont have the numbers Ronaldo has, at least not in real terms.
