Another bad day at the office, I reckon the Red sub sunk us, we were crying out for some pace and effort, Adama has that in abundance, rather than a "can't be asked to try attitude"
At a rough estimate I'd say about eleven short. Ian, your statements are worse than Tom's but I can't fault your confidence no matter how groundless. And fair play to you for coming on here after this beauty "Does anyone actually believe that we won't win this one? Probably the easiest game of the season. I think we will win 3-0." I think I might disappear for a few days if I'd said that.
IOAG Is there a league table for the statements made by posters, then ? Well, I still think we are overdue giving someine a tonking this season. It is not as is I made the prediction ahead of a match against Liverpool. Given our recent record against Watford, 3-0 wasn't that ridiculous. If I had posted a comment in the match thread before kick off than we were eleven players short of a good team and anyone who had confidence that we would get anything from the match was mad, I would have quickly have been shot down. Even Lawro got this one wrong today.
Wait a minute, my stream may be lacking in quality (bit like our play) but unless AA has grown a foot and developed an Irish accent, that looks like our Shane about to take the last sub spot. Did Ralph catch AA doing things to his dog?
The Long sub made sense as it was into injury time and we were lumping balls up into the box against a packed defence sitting deep. AA would have made no sense in that situation.
The Long sub would have made more sense had it happened earlier, so yes you are correct at the time you would go for Long in injury time over AA. My tongue in cheek post was more I think Ralph got a few bits wrong today, but over the middle 1/3rd of the season he is entitled to not be perfect, so he can be cut some slack. Bit wrong, and not in hindsight as I predicted this prior to KO to my boy, was selection & formation. This game for me was crying out for AA to start for a few reasons, didnt make much sense to me. But there is always a worry that a few losses for us tend to turn around slower that a Vestergard.
You'd better hope not Ian because I can confidently predict you'd be at the bottom, one place below @Lovelocum. Sorry but that's no defence, I'm surprised you even tried using Lawro to get you off the hook.
Going to Leeds and Burnley. My hopes for away draws have started to fade, especially if the home teams are desperate for points. Good job we got points earlier in the season. There is always one team that goes on a losing streak at the end of the season. Hope we aren’t it.
Poor decision making, and an utterly pedestrian performance. What a game to take the lad too. Pissed me off. Why can’t we recover from a defeat? What is wrong with the mentality. Can someone tell me why we started with just Che up front?
It seemed that Smallbone was asked to play as support for Che, which is a role I don’t think he has played in the younger teams, so a strange decision. The high press has been missing for the last 3 games and our passing game, in that period, has reverted to the ponderous sloth like progression with very little injection of urgency and creativity, much like the first few games of the season. Second half there was even less chance of the high press because we felt so threatened by Watford on the break we played Romeu as a 3rd centre back for long periods. I can understand this against a top team but to effectively hand over the midfield, through lack of numbers to challenge for loose and second balls is just wrong, especially against a team in the bottom three. For me, if Romeu drops deep, to release the full backs, then Lucy and Stuart need to move inside to give Prowsey someone to link up with and to give us a chance to create pressure. Too many avoidable errors from the players and Ralph, today.
No, nothing. I seem to be getting myself into a hole by pulling people's legs about making pre match predictions. When I pulled Ian for saying we will win 3-0 you answered; so I added you to the imaginary league table. No offense meant or to Ian for that matter.
Ah yes. I am rubbish at predictions. Normally I slag off a player only for them to score. But who honestly would have predicted a home loss to Watford?
It's a good joke to blame people for a loss after they confidently predicted that we would win but that's all it is, I've often predicted wins when we've lost but then I think i've got more predictions correct. Believe it or not what is posted on this forum has absolutely no impact on the result of any football match.
I'm never surprised by Saints' ability to do the unexpected. I found Thursday's game more annoying to be honest, the game that the fans wanted to win more than most and we got a feeble effort.
Off skiing at moment so pretty much out of it. Reading the threads with interest tho. Small margins IMO. Have always said. Take your eye off ball, drop a few % & you lose. That seems exact where we are.
