So true we were (except for KWP and Che) so ponderous, passing backwards and across the defence is done by most teams but some days it doesn't work and every pass appeared to put us in a less advantageous position but it seems that nobody coach or player can change the tactic. Also on our free kicks everybody in the ground know that JWP is going to take it so why does Perrault stand with him and does a pathetic dummy. I think it would be good to let a different player to take one occasionally and Perraud is a good striker of the ball. Who cares I hate football any way. Bet Saints up their game against City.
Worst home performance of the season by a stretch, we never looked like getting a second goal and virtually gifted them the first half.
Just on the walk to the station. Jesus, that was really poor. Salisu notably awful. I also thought Perraud was really poor and I’m going to presume he was carrying a knock with the amount of slow jogging. Have felt it for a while, but finally ready to give up on Smallbone. Have never seen him offer anything in his appearances and today was no different. If we add more depth and look to improve our offering behind the strikers this summer - which I’m hoping we will - then be should be the first casualty of that. To finish on a positive, ot sorts, thought KWP was our best player today. Although not much competition!
Smallbone has had a tough couple of years, and he must be one of our lowest earners, so I don't think it hurts much to give him time. Walcott/Elyounoussi/Redmond/Djenepo are all presumably earning far more. None of them are gonna step up. Of the four I'd keep Redmond. But we desperately need somebody new.
If we’re honest none of the wingers/attacking mids are worth keeping apart from S Armstrong. Bit of a mission getting rid of them all and bringing in 3 or 4 to replace them all in one window when there are also other places we need to strengthen, and who knows who else will be off as well. I believe Anjorin from Chelsea who we were linked with plays in that sort of role so he may be the answer
Today was a perfect example of what happens when a team fighting for their lives came up against a mid-table team with nothing to play for. Full credit to Watford, they scrapped and fought for every ball and thoroughly deserved the win. We were desperately poor today and Ralph got it wrong from the start. Only having one striker on the pitch just sent out all the wrong messages to the fans and the opposition.
I don't think Smallbone is any worse than Djenepo or Walcott tbh. It'll come down to who we can shift ultimately.
