I knew little about Bielsa, I looked on Wiki and I was blown away with the teams he’d managed. I thought to myself “would he be any good in England”, two games played under him and I thought I was dreaming. Stories were emerging of his philosophy, getting players to litter pick to know what a days work feels like, I was blown away with him. Nearly 4 years on… Jesse who? I’d better look on Wiki, oh dear, not great, never mind let’s see what unfolds. I wonder what coaches he will appoint,a few days pass Mmm again it doesn’t install confidence. Talks a good talk during week one, not a bad performance against Leicester roll on week two. Worst ever performance in three years, JM sounds like he’s ****ting himself in the interviews, the players body language is poor, my pre week one fears flood back. The thing is, I thought Bielsas time was up. I’m not privileged to agents or what coaches might be available, that is Ortas job. IF someone had said to me before sacking Bielsa continue with him or appoint JM I’d stick with him. You just can’t rule out the shocking performances this season, equally you can’t dismiss the previous three. If there had been a top quality guy available yes bye bye Bielsa and new guy in. If the only alternative was unemployed Marsch just stick with what we had for now This just smells of 49ers mixed with Radz seeing his investment plummet making a very rash decision
Yep agree on Howe, whether he has zillions to play with or zilch (Bournemouth) he get's the very best out of his players, in my mind the the best manager/coach in the Premier league, coache's like Pep or Klopp have only had the luxury of buying pretty well who they liked, be interesting to see how those two could perform at other clubs without the funding.
Right guys, I’m not coming back on here until after the game, I’m not even going to comment during it. I feel nauseous about it all. I know deep down we’re as good as relegated without a win, I can honestly see Norwich beating us and I’ve never wanted to be proved wrong more than now. Fingers crossed for three points and if you look in Doc I hope you’re okay, not seen you on for a few days which is a reminder there are more important things in life than a football game
It’s hard to work out how and why it all went wrong so quickly. Had we won the game against Newcastle we’d have gone 13 points ahead of them, now we’re eight points behind? So fed up with my weekends being ruined.
Bielsa was given a lot more time than Rafa Benitez. and Claudio Ranieri to turn things around, but when he publicly said he wasn't going to change a thing, the writing was on the wall
Bielsa's philosophy was a breath of fresh air for the whole of English football, but it was one dimensional. The level of fitness the players achieved put them in an elite group all of their own, but it was always going to have an impact on their anaerobic endurance levels (change of pace, short sprints etc). Something had to give, and to me, I noticed it during our first pre-season game against Blackburn. They beat us to almost every second ball, not because of our fitness levels which were high, but because we had lost that bit of intensity. Yes it was (only) pre season, but that applied to both teams.
Yes, we have to win this, and if we dont turn up then we are as good as relegated. I have to admit this has crossed my mind as well as to not watch it. I really dont want to watch them if they dont turn up again. Gutless wonders they are. If we do turn up and actually play like we did against Leicester, then I would expect us to kick Norwich's arse. My fingers are crossed again..
Even with his flaws, I still think we should have let him stay even if he couldn't save us. Those supporters who got on his back have got what they wanted, but at what price. At the moment we are heading to the Championship, at least if that happens it should free up some tickets, when the band wagoners **** off.
Obviously all the focus is on us today but there are other very important fixtures as well. Everton v Wolves Southampton v Watford Let's see where we are at 4pm this afternoon.
Yep that was the statement that did it for me, changing nothing meant we were only going one way, and that was down, quite honestly couldn't believe it when he said that, just confirmed to me what others were already saying about one dimensional thinking and he did not know how to get us out of this rut.
We'll see how much the players want to save our cub today, lose and we're ****ed, almost certainly relegation, the atmosphere at Elland Road will be electric at the start, if the players don't show any fight or bottle in the first half hour this will turn ugly, because the fan aren't stupid we know this game is **** or bust, so should the players, if they can't get motivated in front of a raucous passionate Elland Road Faithfull, they don't deserve to be here. COME ON LEEDS!!!!
every game is a big game but we have to start winning simple as that and if you wanted any team to play right now it would be Norwich. Thing is they will be saying exactly the same thing. The team now have to show balls and give something back. We are lacking so much confidence our last game was probably the worst home game I've seen in a long time. nothing worked let's be honest to ourselves. what worries me is after the rally call midweek then to put out a performance like that you really have to scratch your head. Sorry to hear Firpo has injured himself but for the interest of the team and club I personally think its a good thing he won't play again he has nothing to offer this club in the Premier League infact he's probably the worst fullback I've seen here since our Division one days. We were rushing everything Thursday night probably because they know they are under pressure but to be fair the fans were right behind the team untill we caved in. The balance of the team is not there we have been missing vital pieces in the jigsaw all season and we have never tried to fix it. Everyone is crying for Bamford to start but he's still well behind on match fitness and it will take time I wouldn't start him even though we desperately need him. my team for today would be Meslier Ayling Llorente Struijk Dallas Forshaw Raphinha Klich James Rodrigo Gelhardt We need to get the best out of what we have Ayling and James need to be playing in their positions. Raphinha and Rodrigo need a big kick up the arse yes they know neither will be here next season but show some ucking passion for the club that pay you top wages give the fans something and stop sulking like prima donars. Klich needs to stop pizzing about moaning and concentrate putting his laces through shots. If the lads play to their ability that team wins out there today but I don't want James upfront I want to see him raping the wide area's it's what he does best. I don't want Ayling playing CB when we have players sitting on the bench who are so called international Cbacks. Play to our bloody players strengths not just hoping it works yes James worked as a striker at Villa away but its the only game it has its not rocket science he can't play there. It's time to put the show back on the road today the wheels are wobbling but there is still time to fix it. For the life of our club switch on. challenge every ball with passion play for your shirt its all we ask. lets uck these bugga's up and show the other lot Burnley,Everton,Watford,Brentford we aren't going out without a fight.
They reinforced (albiet with Arab Dosh) and we didn't hence the change of league position, it's up to the players to want to keep us in the prem after our long agonising wait or slide out with a whimper and let all those teams back in the championship look at us once again as their cup final when they play us and sing with glee that "Leeds are falling apart again"......its.cometh the hour, cometh the man time boys
Only on an emotional level. If one of us was making glaring errors at work, we would have been sacked ages ago.
You can't compare football to an everyday nine to five job. Those supporters who turned on Bielsa will be the very same who won't give our new manager a chance. I agree it's emotional regarding Bielsa, but sacking him with 12 games to go won't make much different IMO and it doesn't give Marcsh long enough to get them playing his way. I think the players are mentally ****ed and if we go a goal down their heads may go down as well.
