Just seeing the red (?) I agree with IBWT that Sanchez was not a sending off but I think he paid for the refs mistake in first half For that today it shouldn’t be a red - but in todays game it’s a nailed on red I can see where IBWT is coming from but it was out of control and reckless If a player goes for a ball and misses it and they have both feet off the ground and they take the man out That constitutes as serious foul play now I think let’s hope they don’t get back into the game to make it an issue
I have to ask if people first watch the move back and ball in... then say what was the keeper really trying to do. If he dives hands first at Diaz I might agree. I'd forgive the hand but imo he knows he's late and not getting it and followed in there. He knows what he is doing with the leg and has completely got away with it. Can he stop.... no but he doesn't need the leg at all and could pull up a bit. You have to give him some leeway for trying to get to ball but not to assault another player in the attempt.
I normally take my time before making up my mind about new signings but in Diaz think we have a gem . I would rate the lad highly even if he wasn't very good because of his great attitude but the icing on the cake is he is very good so far
I think it treads on the Mane red that I have never got over He had to go for the ball that day Didn’t look at anything but ball and was expecting a keeper in that part of the field And he lowered his head Just sayin
Again, you've got to make allowances because it's the keeper. You can't view their actions the same as the other 20 on the pitch. They are more protected, slightly more allowed for, as commen sense says they should be.
Well he is a bitter **** so if even he thinks it's red. Kind of like even rio said it was. Maybe even neville might.
Not if it’s an attempt to play the ball and given he’s a goal keeper think can say it was a fair attempt. Anyway, let’s move on now, second half underway. We all have diff opinions.
Keepers are allowed to use their hands so in same way if a keeper catches someone in the face with the hand when catch or punching clear it’s not s foul, let alone a red, but s player can’t walk up and punch someone.
Absolutely. Var should have given him a look and doing so should not mean they are forced to change mind.
So general thoughts: 1) it shows several times Diaz doesn't have full understanding with other team members yet. They don't read each other well. He will only get better as the understanding grows. That's not to say he isn't very impressive already. 2) TAA having a very poor game. Salah also not his best... I think these two improve each other's game and when one is off they both are. 3) Mane is not a centre forward. He's better wider. 4) Our possession in general the last few months seems to be down. Not sure if this is "us" or other teams reacting to us.
If a keeper goes to punch a ball and you go with your head it is what it is. That's still not the same as arriving late swinging body parts at a player knowing you are not making it The the ball goes by and the keeper straight arms a forward he has still fouled and would still be booked.
