As predicted (outside the SSN and Talksport hysteria) the government are open to amending Chelsea's Licence to operate to allow the sale to take place, as long as the proceeds don’t benefit Abramovich. Of course, Abramovich had already made it clear that he didn’t want any of his money back, nor any of the “net proceeds”, so all the government have to do is allow Raine Group to conduct this process including a charitable foundation to benefit victims of the war in Ukraine, which Abramovich was going to do anyway. “As the licence conditions are written today, the sale would not be allowed. However, if a buyer emerged it would be open to that buyer or to that football club to approach the government and ask for the conditions to be varied in a way that allows that sale to take place.' Chris Philp Apparently Chelsea’s bank accounts are not suspended. Money can be spent on costs cleared by the licenses issued yesterday. Temporary suspension of credit cards though as club/provider work out use under license regulations. Anyway, this is unconfirmed. But maybe the sanctions won't make a huge change to Roman's plan.
Mate, you can write as many words as you want, it's all dodgy Russian money, I don't care what company, charity, or dogs home it comes under, it's sanctioned. NO ONE and I mean no one should be allowed to circumnavigate the rules. You took the cash, now you pay the price, that's the only rule you need to know and I bid you goodnight.
NIght mate. Leave the hysteria to Sky and TalkSport. Chelsea will be fine Trivago sticking with Chelsea for time being, maybe Nike too. And we may be able to sell home tickets but only 3 Prem games and 27000 tickets left to sell anyway
I don't listen to Sky or Talksport. I just imagine Chelsea like that last cheap ice lolly left in the freezer on a hot summers days, it's frozen to the bottom of the chest, and the more you try and tug on it to free it, the more it risks shattering into a thousand unpalatable pieces. Then they go to the ice cream van to try and buy another with your remaining pennies, only to find the bank van listing on the beach... Anyway... https://www.reuters.com/markets/europe/abramovichs-us-hedge-fund-investments-frozen-wsj-2022-03-12/ Some U.S. hedge-fund firms that have investments from Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich have been told to freeze his assets after Britain imposed sanctions on him, the Wall Street Journal reported on Friday.
OK, you asked how Chelsea could sell the club if it had been sanctioned - as you seemed genuinely interested - and I merely tried to explain. And substantiate using a quote rather than mere conjecture. Then you segued into something completely different, instead of replying to my answer.
You didn't really give me a valid answer to how they could sell the club, you went on about SKY and Talksport, despite me never ever referencing them. You then went on about how Abramovich, didn't want any of the money and 'net proceeds' etc - to me again, this is all irrelevant. You then went on about the Raines Group, and the dogs home, oops sorry, the charitable foundation, that was solely created to circumnavigate the sanctions. Then you went on about how Barclays apparantely haven't sanctioned Chelsea, you seem not to understand the implications for a bank if they get this wrong. Yesterday the US made a freeze on his hedge-funds, now they really are in dodgy territory, because the rules are different in the US, any American citizen that now deals with anything belonging to Roman, risks criminal prosecution, even if that transaction is in the UK. Does an American company really want to buy Chelsea while it's own government is applying 'some' sanctions, does an American company really want to buy Chelsea, while the Ukraine is being invaded, and the UK are applying sanctions on that club, hmmm. Come back to me, when you have some real answers, not what you would like to happen. Because at the moment, you have given me nowt, other than tell me you love Chelsea FC, and a load of whataboutery. If the government issue an amended licence, what's stopping Roman at a later date, claiming you sold something that was frozen, it belonged to me, you can't take written assurances from him or his lawyers, past or present, because he is not allowed to trade or negotiate any trade, he's frozen, FROZEN. Obviously the Tories are bent, and supporters of Chelsea are bent as well, so who knows what you might pluck out the sky as the bombs rain down on Kyiv. Anyway, at least Roman was given a two week head start to create this foundation, which in itself surely has to be illegal, but I guess the rules can be bent for billionaires.
All conjecture. Here are the facts: including my original quote as to how the club can be sold. Barclays have not "sanctioned' Chelsea. As we suspected last night despite the SSN headlines, Chelsea’s bank accounts are not suspended. Money can be spent on costs cleared by the licenses issued yesterday. Temporary suspension of credit cards though as club/provider work out use under license regulations. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/60714952 The government are open to amending Chelsea's Licence to operate to allow the sale to take place. I refer you to a quote from Chris Philp: “As the licence conditions are written today, the sale would not be allowed. However, if a buyer emerged it would be open to that buyer or to that football club to approach the government and ask for the conditions to be varied in a way that allows that sale to take place.'
So in my drive back from Supermarket it sounds like (in media) that sale will go ahead if licence terms can be met. cash goes to charity or wherever and someone gets debt free club. Also a hint towards Chelsea being first PL fan owned club, unsure how many would be/could stump up for the 51% total required and then who would be the remaing 49%
Again no evidence, you really are struggling, there is an answer to all this, you ever thought of supporting another club, maybe one like Spurs?
Sounds like good Championship material club to me, suppose that's better than no club at all. Anyway, while the government are rewriting the rules to suit a Premier League club, I wonder why they didn't help bail out clubs that went under due to covid.
we’ve put a bid in for Bobby and District Line someone else can add CFC to their fanbase if they want
He lives round the corner from Loftus Road and he’s not a complete **** so we’ll have him. Bluey’s already been taken by Fulham.
Ok, let's say for example the government can bend the rules for Chelsea, surely on doing so if we are to remove all of the Roman connection, the true value of it's sale should only be £140M the price it was valued at when Abramovich bought it. Oh not forgetting that the sale included paying off a debt of £80M within the sale price. So the true value of Chelsea is only £60M. please log in to view this image
