Morning all. Wet and miserable outside, so there goes my best intentions to do a spot of gardening. Nice to see a youngster getting his chance to come on for the last five minutes of a game, and even better when he scores. That happened last night when 19 year old Siriné Doucouré picked up a terrible back pass that had no chance of reaching the keeper, and cool as could be, waltzed around him before putting the ball in the back of the net. I am sure I have seen the surname before somewhere. Have a good day everyone. <ok>

Morning all. A misty start, but now a clear blue sky, which is so different to the gloom that was with us all day yesterday. Out to join the family for dinner shortly. My youngest granddaughter went ice skating ten days ago, fell over and has fractured her coccyx. The hospital have told her there is nothing that can been done, just six weeks of waiting for it to heal itself. They did provide her with a horseshoe shaped cushion to make sitting slightly more comfortable, but school is a problem when you cannot keep getting up and moving around. No doubt about it, sport is dodgy! Have a good day everyone. <ok>

Morning all. Bright and sunny out there, but cold at only 4°C. Yesterday was a first when I managed to stream our game to my mobile phone. Far from ideal, but better than nothing. Seems quite extraordinary that my first computer had a dial up connection if I wanted to view the internet, and it was so slow that you had to wait for an e-mail to download. Now I can log on to an internet provider and watch what is happening hundreds of miles away as it happens. While we make so much progress in a field like this, it is so sad watching someone trying to take the world back to the dark ages. Have a good day everyone. <ok>

Morning all. More blue sky than cloud, and it is going to become warmer says the man at the Météo. Yesterday I spotted a large Magnolia covered in buds that are just preparing to open. Too many years they reach this stage, then an overnight frost, and instead of glorious colours you have brown shrivelled up objects that are far from beautiful. As it is supposed to be staying dry I will be attacking some brambles that are threatening to take over the garden. Their roots are in the grass verge outside the garden, but they are now over the 2M high wall and spreading fast. Why doesn't frost kill them off? Have a good day everyone. <ok>

Morning all. Bright sunshine and a light, but chilly breeze. Looking at the state of my arms and hands I think the brambles had a convincing victory yesterday despite me playing an extra defender; two pairs of gardening gloves instead of one. Only managed to clear maybe a half of them, so do I attack them again today, or give the wounds time to heal? Time for a coffee and a chance to think about it. Have a good day everyone. <ok>

Morning all. Cloudy with rain expected this afternoon. A couple of years ago our village pond was dredged and enlarged to provide a réservoir d'eau for use by the fire brigade should there be a fire in the dry summer months. Since the work was completed it has reverted back to nature, and with reeds and irises looks quite attractive once more. Last spring a group of drakes appeared with a single duck, who had a very bad time of it, although she did produce 10 ducklings that paddled round for several weeks before taking flight. They are back, sunning themselves on the bank when it is out, and doing lengths of the pond when they need the exercise. More ducklings seem likely. Have a good day everyone. <ok>

Morning all. Cloudy and very windy in rural France today. Rain on and off expected over the next few days, but it should improve by Tuesday. Now that restrictions on travel have been eased we have looked at a short trip to England. Mme has not seen her sister in over a year since she had a stroke, and although reports of a very slow improvement are good to receive, it is not the same as going to see her. Just as we are preparing to take the trip on it becomes clear that covid is rising throughout the whole UK again. Having stayed clear of it we don't want to catch it now. Will have to think about it some more in the next few days. Have a good one everybody. <ok>

Good evening everyone. I wasn't quite sure where to post this: here or on the coronovirus - not football, maybe thought for the day thread... Decided on here, rightly or wrongly...

    .
So it's Friday. Long week at work. About 6:45pm. Finally home. Knackered, looking forward to a beer.
I'm in through the door and catch a glance at the telly from the hall... (Thinks) Bloody hell that looks bleak... frikkin russians making a right mess of that city...
    .
    .
    .
    .
    hang on a minute...
    .
    .
    .
    .
    That's Katniss Everdeen!

Do I laugh? Do I cry? Is this really where we're at???
